I will try to make the short. I have an 03 vue witch came factory with the v25e trany. I removed the cvt and put in a manul 5 speed, removed the engine/trany wiring harness. Installed a harness out of an 2005 MT vue. Starts runs, but I have no speedo, no cruse, and the cooling fans run all the time. The IP is lit up like a Christmas tree, check engine, service engine, and power down lights. I tried putting the ecu from the 05 MT vue it started ran 5 seconds the the theft system took over and would not let it breath again. So I put the cvt ecu back in, starts runs just with all the problems. Went to Saturn they tried to reprogram the ecu with no luck. I'm running out of ideas. Any help would be great Andy

Is this the 4 cylinder or the 6 cylinder model? The 4 cylinder has a notoriously troublesome Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). These mischievous little skamps like to cause mischief at just the wrong times, such as when you are on your way to work on Monday morning, or when you are in the path of a train.
Since you have no engagement into forward or reverse the drive belt has likely failed you. Replace the case half and filter, and all of your dreams will be realized.... probably..
it's very special, and if done wrong, dooms the trans-axle
all this is covered, in the FSM
read it in the book and on most cars the CVT has very very
special needs and procedures for changing lube.
some, it must be done a s special temperature. < yes.
ever seen and FSM. (for doing factory service)
it shows all the steps, 1 by 1.

the lube is at GM. dealers.
VT25e (cvt made in Hungary)
GM RPM code M75(2WD)/M16(F4WD)
DEX-CVT and Automatic Transmission Additive
there are 10 service bulletins on this trans-axle
TSBs (read them all)
see the special additive yet>?
Use DEX CVT fluid (P/N 22688912) only. Use of
any fluid other than DEX CVT will
cause internal trans=axle damage.
Add one unit (10 CC syringe) of DEX CVT additive (P/N 22697447) whenever an unrecoverable loss of fluid occurs during an authorized limited on vehicle repair. Minor fluid
loss, such as minor drips that may occur during the fluid checking procedure, does not require the addition of the additive.
here is the actual instructions for replacing VT25e filter and fluid (special)
First, you MUST verify if this has the CVT (continuously variable transmission) installed. If so, it requires special fluid along with anti-foam additive. Probably stocked only by the dealer. DO NOT add other transmission fluid to a CVT.
If you are below 100 psi then you have a major leak inside the transmission. These will read upwards of 700 psi and require a special gauge to check line pressure. As far as fixing this there are limited parts available for this transmission and a replacement unit is big bucks. Take the car to your saturn dealer and see what they will do. These have a 5 year 75,000 miles warranty for the transmission, and most of them are covering up to and past 100,000 miles for customer satisfaction. If you dont know much or anything about this transmission do not attempt to repair it. Let the trained professional tech at saturn take care of this.
