I been having the same problem since I brought this car. It is really annoying. I just sit there until it decides to crank. I think it has something to do with the security light being on since it happens after the light is steady.

I have the same issue, It just happened to me today, just driving along, went to the store then BAM, no car after it was sitting for only 5 mins. Wont crank, let it sit for close to 10-20 mins and then it fired up... did it after I got home as well :(

Looks like I am heading to my dealer tomorrow :|

I have the same problems. Bought the car from Ontario sales of lockport, ny. for over one and a half yr's. the car has been take to several GMAC dealers and no one seems to know what the problem is. It is very annoying and i believe it may have been a recall or something that we all have seemed to have missed.

Why doesnt my 2000 chevy impala have injection pulse

your anti theft device is activated, you need to lock and unlock your doors a couple times with the key fob,not the key,and then you need to put the key in the ignition and start it,if you dont have your key fob, call your car dealer to get a new one, they are programmed for each car only, you cannot bypass it.

Car not starting, battery charged by son's car, still wont' start.

More than likely its your ignition switch going or gone bad. Ok, here's what you do, turn the key to the on position but DO NOT CRANK, let the key stay in this position until the security light stops flashing (takes 5 to 10 minutes) then turn the key off and crank it immediately after. If your car cranks then you will need to replace your ignition switch ($120 to $160). Hope this information helps someone. .

The neutral safety switch,or range sensor is mounted on the transmission at the shift linkage area.replacing it will require theshift lever to be removed

I have a 2000 chevy impala when I turn the key to the on position there is no power going to the dash lights power windows and the there no power to the starter I have brand new battery and ignition...

The connection is most likely the reason. Either the wires are dysfunctional or you have just placed them on the wrong way, assuming the battery and ignition switch are functional. Hope this helps!

I have a 2000 Chevy impala and I am having serious issues with it starting. The battery is fine, we replaced the starter and put in a new starter relay, still not cranking. We are now leaning towards the...

Does the security light in the dash blink?
Thinking it's a pass code fault(ignition switch)
There is no chip in the key,the computer looks for the proper rotation of the switch, had the same thing happen,
Should be able to start it if you crank the engine for a few seconds, release the starter and DON"T turn the key off, wait 10 minutes, crank it again, should start.
If not do the procedure again(had to do it 3 times on mine)
This is the relearn procedure that also has to be run after the switch is replaced(with a new key also)

I have a 2006 Chevrolet Impala I lost my keyless remote, my battery is dead when I try to charge it my alarm goes off. How can I stop it my alarm from going off and get my car to crank?

You need to leave the charger on while the alarm is going off and put the key in the ignition and turn it on and off 5 times the alarm should turn off . Don't try to start it just turn it on till the light in the dash come on the turn it . 3 to 5 time of this should reset the alarm.
