Silverado gauges stop start

Battery drained. While driving gauges, lights, and radio die then start almost immediately. After a few seconds the process repeats. While idle the gauges, lights, and radio stay on. Turn the engine off and battery is dead. Jumping works but it takes a few attempts with the starter before it starts.

Sounds like a bad starter solenoid switch or a fusible link most likely a bad starter solenoid

  • Anonymous Jan 31, 2013

If the starter solenoid was bad or going south, would I still be able to jump start?

SOURCE: battery keeps dying due to radio+clock staying on

your radio is staying on? you have a bad door switch.the bcm does not see door opening and thus does not turn radio off. most likely the drivers door.

SOURCE: 2003 Chevy 2500 HD-Problems with it quitting while its idleing

This is going to sound crazy but i had the same problem with my 2003 silverado, changed the plugs, battery, and alternator with no sucess at all. Finally took my truck to a well respected auto repair shop locally in my area and they suggested i change the fuel filter under the truck. Crazy right? Why not, so i did and my truck ran perfect after i changed it. Shop tech said my truck was starving for fuel which in turn was not letting the alternator spin above the correct RPMs at all times which in turn caused the electrical computer system to not operate correctly. If you tried everything might as well try the fuel filter before you have to spend big bucks at the repair shop. Hope this helps.

Sounds to me like the battery post is breaking away from the internal plates. This is something that happens from time to time with a battery.

What would cause an '03 silverado to only crank for 2 seconds, but not start? And also loose accessory power to radio, windows, dash gauges, a/c, etc....?

It may be something as simple as a crankshaft sensor. If you can get hold of an engine scanner it will tell you for sure. Good Luck Friend.

Battery light wash flashing.car then died while driving

More than likely it is the alternator not putting out enough to run the car.

2007 chevy 2500 died while driving down the road. Lights/radio still work

The battery light was on because the engine stopped running. The alternator was not charging the battery.
On a model that new, if the engine did overheat the computer could kill it. A stuck thermostat comes to mind. But your temp gauge should have been on the hot side.
Its also possible something locked up and is preventing the engine from cranking, such as the water pump or alternator. You may need to remove the belt to verify. If the belt is slipping it would not power the water pump to keep the engine cool.

My 95 3L Lebaron Dies when the car is stopped. It starts then dies immediately, after many cranks with lots a gas it will run. Only happens when cold.

I'd use a gage and check proper fuel pressure, key on engine off. My info says 48 psi.
How long since over-all tune up?

Battery died, gauge cluster bulbs on dimly, now rough idle result

How much have you driven vehicle? You need to drive long enough for computer to reset refrence points onboard. If that does not work, you have a bad voltage limiter on your instrument cluster board!
