Question about 1996 Volkswagen Jetta

1 Answer

Hazard lights wont stop flashing and car wont turn over.

I started the car and let it run for 20 min. then i saw the hazard lights flashing and played with the switch to see if they would stop, they didnt so i shut the car off, they stayed on still, when i tried to start the car up again the engine wouldnt turn over, the radio says to enter a code after the battery was unplugged because of the hazard lights being on. So i cant seem to figure out what the problem is.

Unlock driver door twice consecutively because that's how u disarm the car alarm. As for the radio, input the code that's in ur booklet. If u don't have it, call ur local dealer with the car's serial number and they will give u the radio code. It's 4 digits.

Security light will not stop flashing even after 20 mins of run time, car will not start will not attempt to turn over

Since the parts are no longer avail for this car to fix this issue more than likely why not just bypass the security system altogether. Here is how you do that. Click HERE

Electric fault

You might try removing the battery connectors for five minutes and replacing back.

If the codes do not disappear, please you might have to get a scanner to do that.

Cheers.

The hazard lights start flashing and I can't turn

there must be alarm fitted that either has the siren disconnected or turned off. Basically sensing an intrusion alert or voltage drop. Flip out the hazard switch, there will be a wire which runs seperate from the body loom into this light, just cut it, the correct one though. if needs be trace it back.....probably end up behind the glove box

SL2 ? 2000 starting problem

I had the same problem at one time and what the problem was is a short or an exposed wire connected to the starter which causes the voltage to fluctuate which in turn activates a security feature that stops the flow of fuel to the injectors. The car actually senses the possibility of a spark which could possibly ignite the fuel and be a fire hazard. If you turn the ignition on and off repeatedly after a certain amount of time the car will start and run fine. It is a very intermittent problem.

Hazard lights flashing

I have a 97 subaru outback and encountered the same problem. It is a security device on all newer subaru's. After changing or charging the battery, leave the negetive battery cable disconnected. Turn the key to the "on" position, then reconnect the negative terminal. This will stop the flashing.
