Headlights and everything else is bright before trying to start, or is something drawing battery down while sitting? If it runs for a while, then you shut it off & try to restart 5 min later, will it start?

Check your Belt Tensioner. If the Belt Tensioner is not Holding the Belt Tight Enough it will not allow the Alternator to Charge the Battery Fully and will effect the Ability to Start the Truck Also. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

Starter problems, Suggestions???

Starters tend to fail intermittently. Yes, if it started after a "whack", I woul suggest replacing your starter. Make sure all connections are tight and of course clean terminals and cables.

I went to start van and lights, all electric work but engine makes a rapid clicking noise.

Your battery does not have enough power, try jump starting from another battery or vehicle

Good battery, key will not engage starter, jumping starter will not engage drive

jumping across the solenoid will spin the starter but will not engage the pinion in the ring gear. Have a load test done on the battery as I suspect that there is a bad cell and you are not getting a full charge. If the battery is faulty then there is always enough power to turn on dash lights but nothing left to run the high current solenoid and starter.

Starter

Well the starter won't cause the rough running or stalling problems.
You would need to know if the starter has full battery power when it will not crank without being jumped off another battery.
It could be that the battery voltage drops low enough to affect the computer memory, and after the engine starts the computer has to re-learn the settings.

My Toyota Dyna 3 Tonner Desiel engine, Year of Make 2000 only cranks but does not proceed from there. What should I do to fix the problem?

If you are getting a hard crank (turning with plenty power) then the starter will most likely be at fault. Have u tried to jump the vehicle? A dead battery could be at fault since it may have enough power to turn over but not enough force to start it.

1996 GMC JIMMY WILL NOT START: Turn the ignition and there is a repeated clicking sound. The interior lights, radio and power windows still function. Replaced the "in line" fuel filter under the...

It sounds like you probably have a shorted battery cell. This will not only cause the repeated clicking that you described, but it will also rob power when jump-starting from another vehicle. There is probably enough power when jump starting to turn the starter over, but after the starter take the power that it needs, there is not enough power to operate the computer system....so I have no doubt that you probably are not getting any fuel. The computer has to tell the fuel pump to run. If there is no power for the computer....I think you can figure it out from here.

Replace the battery and try it again.

When turn car over does not turn over but headlights work radio works ect

Headlights and radios don't require a lot of Amp like the starter.
1-If you recharge the battery and it doesn't work, let have a jump start.
2- If the jumpstart can turn then your battery is weak.
3- If the jump start can't not turn then you have a bad start solenoid. The solenoid is the small top part of the attached image.

Car wont start

Does the battery have enough capacity to turn over the engine though? Even flat car batteries will still power the radio. The best way would be to jump start the car uing a set of jumper leads. If it starts you know it is the battery that needs replacing.

If it still wont turn over then it is most likely the solenoid in your starter motor. You can often tap the starter motor with a hammer and free the solenoid as a temporary fix. The starter motor is loacted at the back of the engine on the bell housing if rear wheel drive, or around the tranmission if a front wheel drive.
