Exhaust smoke has it's own color code. Black is excessive fuel, Blue is oil, WHITE is coolant. If you see white smoke from the tailpipe, you have coolant escaping into the intake system.

It sounds like the compression is low. May have a blown head gasket....the white smoke tells me something, and the low idle. Have the compression checked. When you say valve cover gasket, im assuming its a 4.0 in line 6....

Your Jeep is Burning Oil. Do you need a Quart every Now and Then? The only way to fix this is to get the Piston Rings Replaced and is not Cheap. There are a Few Additives on the Market that you can put in the Motor to Minimise the Problem for a While. You need to go to Your Auto Parts Store and see what is available in your Area on these though. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

I have a 97 jeep grand cherokee laredo and it is back firing out of the throttle body like it's not getting enough gas. Could you help me out.

Check all the vacuum hoses on the intake manifold for a leak. Replace all broken and cracked lines. Check from the coil to spark plug wires with an inline spark tester for fire. Check the spark plugs for fouling and cracked terminals. Inspect the spark plug wires for worn or cracks. If you can check the fuel pressure to the throttle body. Also look at the air filter. Hope this will help you.

I have a 1995 Hyundai elantra 5 spd 1.6L 4cyl leaking oil

It maybe a valve cover leak, the retangular covers (2) the sparks plugs are located along the side, if you see oil around you will need to have the valve cover gasket replaced

Spark plugs

I own a 2004 jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 V-8 It took me 3 1/2 hours to complete changing the spark plugs. First one must remove the cover from the air filter and to the carbuetor there are two bolts on each side of the cover over the engine then the driver side is easy to remove the boots on each plug the passenger side is pretty easy except for the last plug all the way on the back this one took me 1/2 to remove because there is lots of obstructions like the power steering line and the oil line and electrical cables.

They are on the heads, follow the plug wires.

1991 sentra 2dr 1.6 L rough idle in park and in drive at stop

Sounds like misfire. Change spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor , fuel and air filters. Check for oil in spark plug holes. if oil found change valve cover gasket spark plug orings. they can leak oil into spark plug holes and cause misfire.

I have a 94' Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I have white smoke when ever I'm stopped or parked, and it idles a little rough at those times also. I've changed the plugs, spark plug wires, valve cover gasket,...

White smoke generally indicates a blown head gasket or cracked cylinder head, permitting coolant to enter the combustion chamber. You may see a small amount of antifreeze on spark plugs, or, you may see a loss of compression in one, sometimes two adjacent cylinders. Have you had any unexplained coolant loss?
If smoke is present, does it do this all the time or only when first starting? (don't forget, water vapor is a by-product of combustion) Watch other vehicles...is yours smoking more than theirs?
Other than this, intermittent rough running can be caused by nearly anything in either the fuel or ignition system. You will need to check codes and do testing to determine which system(s) need attention. Your spark plugs can also be a good reference when testing. After plugs have been in service for a while, they should all have pretty much the same colouring on the insulator surrounding the electrode...any variation is a clue to which cylinders are malfunctioning.

Location of the sparkplug wires in a 2000 jeep grand cherokee

If you have the distributorless ignition, you wont have any spark plug wires. This is because the ignition coil packs sit directly on top of the spark plugs. The spark plug boots are connected directly to the ignition coil pack.

If you stand in front of your vehicle open the hood and look to the left side of the motor, just around at the bottom of the valve cover, you'll see a series of three humps. Those are the coil packs and they are held in by four bolts I believe and if you take those out and pry up on the long coil pack, it will come loose from the plugs and then you can change them out.
