Sounds like you TPS ( throttle position sensor) is sending a crappy signal to the ECM. The measurement would be too sensitive to do with any meter. Recoomend taking it to a shop so they can plug into it and do a throttle response test befor eyou buy anything. If this is helpful, please post as such. TY

I would test for restricted exhaust this can be done by place a vacuum gauge on a intake manifold source. when problem occurs keep pedal steady and read the vacuum then slowly keep pressing on gas pedal if reading is ZERO and below you have a restriction.

Not quite everything is fine.

Can you rev up the engine in park ?
What have you checked so far ?

My truck starts and stalls and will not idle

Try increasing the idle speed. If you don't know, this is how to do it.
Open the bonnet and ask someone to push and release the gas pedal a five second intervals.
Observe which part is moving.
Yo will see a small adjustment screw on that lever. You will understand that by adjusting the screw you can increase the gas supply to the engine.
Slowly rotate the screw while the engine is running. (If the engine doesn't run in idle state as you have explained, ask someone to keep the pedal slightly pressed. After increasing the gas supply, ask the person to release the pedal).
Adjust it further to get a smooth running condition at idling.
Also check whether air cleaner is blocked.

Hi Lex Owner, Its very important to remember that gas is dangerous and can burst into flame. There are plenty of places where it can be ignited from under the hood.....Don't turn on the ignition until you've sorted out the filter fitting....
There is every chance that the fuel filter may be blocked,
  • So that's your first task. That filter must come out and when it does, you'll need a replacement filter and banjo bolt to replace the one that's damaged.
  • If the head is too badly damaged to fit a standard wrench, you'll need to use a pipe wrench, size four to six inches. (that's the handle length) A new tool with sharp teeth would be the best for the job, because you may get grazed knuckles....If you do, count to ten and try again....You'll need to get that banjo bolt out and a new one fitted with a new filter before turning on the ignition....
  • The fuel pump is electric and submersible and fits inside the fuel tank....
  • If as you've explained the filter has become badly contaminated, it may have caused the pump to over work and damaged it....
  • If you would like to go further with the job, please let me know....
  • Several different units may be causing the fault you describe and we'll have to go step by step on each.
  • The first likely cause is the blocked filter
  • Second is a defective fuel pump.
  • Third is a damaged air flow sensor (this unit is situated behind the air cleaner housing and between the throttle body at the front of the intake manifold
  • I'd suggest, once the vehicle is mobile again, and if the fault hasn't cleared after fitting the new fuel filter, take it to a shop where they can carry out an electronic scan.
  • If the Air flow sensor is defective it should show up as a fault, but keep in mind, sometimes it doesn't even when its defective.
When working on the filter its a very good idea to wear protective goggles. Gas burns like you know what if it gets into your eyes....
If it does at any time, use plenty of water and wash them out as fast as you can. Get to a tap a bowl or any other container with water....
Let me know how you get along and let me know how much more you would like to do....
Regards Johngee10

My 98 dodge ram vibrates bad at 40 mph plus at a steady low rpm. if i step on the gas it kinda stops and if i let go of the gas is stops completely it also started misfiring when it started this

Torque convertor shutter? Maintain the speed that it does this, and with your left foot, apply a small amount of pressure to the brake pedal. Not enough to slow vehicle, but enough to disengage the lock up convertor. If it goes away, try servicing the fluid with new 7176. if that doesnt do it, replace the convertor.

2000 camero step on gas pedal car wants to die

your fuel filter might be old and clogged. try replacing it. if it is and not enough fuel can get through, the engine will stall when you let more air in (step on the gas pedal).

Envoy 2004 idle speed

Hi
your problem seems very easy :) hope this one work with your envoy. Just buy AC DELCO carburetor tune-up conditioner.

How you use it: engine running , AC off please

1. detached the big black airflow hose which is attached in the mannifold of the engine block.

2. ask your friend to step on the gas pedal and set the rpm steady in 2000 rpm only.

3. then spray vigorously in 8 seconds the inside circle opening of mannifold while your friend steady step on gas pedal with steady 2000 RPM only.

4. after you spray, let your freind continue on gas pedal with 2000 rpm for 15 more seconds.

5. attached back the airflow big black hose to the manifold and you are ready to roll with your AC on.

if this one doesnt work, please scan your envoy by scanner called TECH II. and find out.
