NO TRANSMISSON HI I HAVE A FORD XR 6 AUTO AND ONE DAY THE GEARS STOP WORKING. YOU CAN CLICK IT DOWN TO D AND NOTHING HAPPEN AND THE SAME WITH REVERSE ETC IT JUST WONT MOVE

Timing gears has nothing to do with the transmission. Is it auto manual? Does it go into gear and just go in reverse or wont go into gear.. Check linkage for binding if it just wont go after putting in gear it is trans problem..good luck.

I got a new transmission and in a few months it did the same thing. On mine the transmission cable was not connected. If you know where the cable is....it only takes a couple seconds to plug it back in. When my transmission went completely out it would not go no matter what gear it was in , but when it become disconnected it would not go into any gear. The gear shift would not move.

my van is doing the same exact thing but the othe day it was perfectly fine no slipping i went about 25 miles and i started off from a stop the engine rev and tranny slipped and the van died i restarted the van it runs great but acts as if there is no transmisson does not take power frm ngine when shfted does nothing please help

Need to do a transmission computer scan,
if you get a code of solenoid a & b, you will need to replace the relay box's, remove transmission pan and it's bolted right up in there, you can see it when you drop the pan.

i wouldnt worry about it its nothing i had the same thing in my towncar ltd brougham just gets old man. plus its over 10yrs old its gonna happen.

There could be several but It should have 100,000 mile warrenty on the drive train so take it to the dealer Your truck is notthe first one I have seen on here with this problem and always assumed it was a transmisson problem. I ned to know how they know it's not the transmisson? did they remove the shift lingange offf the transmisson and see if it would shift thru the gears ? Also Ford has it's powertrain control module mouned in the transmisson so this does not seem right to me, ask them if they took the linkage off and tested the control module and get back to me.

this sounds like the splind in the middle of transfer case and transmisson .best of luck

You need to check line pressure on the transmission. It sounds like a bad pump. Does it do the same thing in reverse?

I am assuming that it is auto. trans??Check trans. fluid level and look under car to make sure linkage is connected and moving. Also when did it stop working ? all of a sudden or after sitting for long time? or over time?But quick guess, If all is good most likely torque converter went out. Then tranny issue, sorry no easy fix!!!

Is this an auto or standard tranny?
