There is some sort of diagnostic code stored in either the ECM(engine computer) or TCM(transmission computer). There are many sensors and solenoids and other data parameters that can cause a codes to set other than just the oxygen sensors. You will need to have the code(s) pulled to know where to start.

2003 dodge caravan code p171

Basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a lean condition (too much oxygen in the exhaust). On V6/V8/V10 engines, Bank 1 is the side of the engine that has cylinder #1. In the vast majority of cases, simply cleaning the MAF sensor does the trick. Consult your service manual for it's location if you need help. I find it's best to take it off and spray it with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling. check all vacuum hoses and pcv system, also check for dirty fuel filter or low fuel pressure. but clean maf sensor first and see if this helps. good-day !

There are two oxygen sensors: one is upstream of the catalytic converter and one downstream of the catalytic converter. Need a new po135 - 02 heater circuit

UPSTREAM OXYGEN SENSOR
The oxygen sensor is installed in the exhaust manifold Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor - 2.4L. or Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor - 3.0L. or Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor - 3.3/3.8L .

CAUTION: Do not pull on the oxygen sensor wire when unplugging the electrical connector.

WARNING: THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER MAY BE EXTREMELY HOT. USE CARE WHEN SERVICING THE OXYGEN SENSOR.

REMOVAL
Raise and support vehicle.
Unplug oxygen sensor electrical connector.
Use a socket such as Snap-On YA8875 or equivalent to remove sensor.
When the sensor is removed, the exhaust manifold threads must be cleaned with an 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap. If using original sensor, coat the threads with Loctite 771-64 anti-seize compound or equivalent.
INSTALLATION
Reverse removal procedure to install a new sensor
New sensors are packaged with compound on the threads and no additional compound is required. The sensor must be tightened to 27 N·m (20 ft. lbs.) torque
