Question about 2004 Ford F150

2004 F150 Tail light problem

When I turn head lights on and just durring normal driving with running lights the tail lights do not work. Brake lights work fine, but not tail. I checked the fuse (#2 I believe it was under pass dass) and it was good. All of the fuses are good inside vehicle. The bulbs are also good. Switch maybe? ground? Truck is only a few years old. What specific fuse should I be looking for since the owners manual does not specify which the "tail lights" are?

If the stop lamps work, it should not be a ground, they are on the same ground.

The fuse for the parking lamps ( front and rear ) is F6 ( parklamps )

R03 is for the DRL, which has nothing to do with the tail lamps ( that is the headlamp bulb only at partial voltage ).

Do the front parking lamps work ?

I would check your Auxiliary relay box. Check the R03 relay you might need to replace it. The Auxiliary relay box is located in the engine compartment (driver side)

I have a 2004 Ford F150 FX4 with a tail light problem?

I had a similar problem when my original bulb burned out and I attempted to replace it. Found out the bulb I bought to replace it worked as a turn signal and brake light but not a tail light. Make sure you're using the. Perfect replacement bulb. Most bulbs now are doubled and tripled in functions so if yours is triple but you have a double bulb it won't light up your tail light. Start there

Headlight switch on makes tail light dim

there must be a short circuit which powers tail lights and brake lights. probably you have a dual filament bulbs which have both brake and tail light together. check for bulb, socket/or bulb housing and harness of that light.

Dashboard lights and rear exterior running lights not working. blinkers, flashers, and brake lights work. regular tail lights won't work. Not finding a blown fuse. not finding any fuse listed as "tail...

the fuse is labled 'brake'

I would replace the fuse... and then have someone stand to the rear of the vehicle and watch the lights come on as I applied the brake... if the fuse blows again... note which tail light did NOT come on durring this test and replace the bulb.. it is grounding to itself and causing the short.

Interior dash and running lights dont work but my signal and brake lights work else works

Look at fuse #18, a 15 amp fuse, in the fuse block. This fuse powers both the tail lights and instrument cluster lights. Usually both of these light systems are powered by the same fuse so when your cluster isn't lit up you'll know right away that your tail lights aren't working as it's not safe to drive without tail lights. Your brake, turn, and head lamps are powered by different circuits. Hope this helps and good luck!
