4X4? you have to disconnect steering shaft from steering column lock steering wheel with seat belt first, then remove power steering lines and then the 3 bolts that hold the gear box to frame rail, any problems write back please give feed back

put the rear on jack stands, and run the wheels up to about 20 to 30 and have someone lay underneath and see if the sound is coming from the center of the rear end. I rebuild these rear ends all the time, sounds like possibly the start of bearing failure

2003 Suburban 4x4- Humming noise in the left front that gets louder the faster you go. Replaced the wheel bearing and still have the same problem. Any suggestions.


check the tires sometime if the tires are choppy they will make a lot of noise.if they are try swapping a rear tire to the front and see if the sound moves location.

Do you have a description or directions on how to change a front passenger side wheel hub bearing on a 4 wheel drive 2003 yukon xl 1500???


Honestly I wouldn't attempt to do this unless your a trained automotive technician, hub bearings are... a b#&ch without the right tools

Replacing front wheel bearings on a 2004 Suburban


The front wheel bearings are sealed units, and must be replaced with the entire hub assembly. They do not need periodic cleaning/replacing as they did in the old days, if they are not making noise do not bother with them.

Display is indicating to have the 4 wheel drive serviced


GM had a lot of problems with the 4X4 switches they can be changed very easy by popping the trim panel off that goes around the instrument cluster (it just snaps on) and with a little screw driver you can change it yourself

Metal scaping sound from the rear brake - pads are


Parking brake assembly inside the rear rotor/drum is worn out and scraping the drum. The brake cable could be sticking on, and if so will need replaced.

This year model has had problems with the "Encoder Motor" Its is a bolt on unit around 300 dollars if you do it yourself. I would just leave it in 2WD for now.
