What is the ALT 80 fuse under the hood? 1990 4runner

I have numerous electric problems on this truck but I found that the ALT 80 fuse under the hood of my 90 4runner is smashed. Anyone know what this thing does?

    The rear window, the ECT button (whatever that is) and wipers dont work. The battery doesnt seem to be a problem I think it is getting plenty of charge. is there a relay for all these things I mentioned because all fuses are good.

    I couldnt read the diagram. I tried enlarging it in word but couldnt read it still. I can replace the fuse in the box but I still cant figure out why I dont have wipers or any use of my console. The switch lights are on but they dont work. I have hard wired my wipers and they work so I know the motor ios good.

It is your alternator Fuse - The alternator fuse is bolted to the wire connectors, you will have to pull the fuse holder up by releasing the plastic tabs with a small screwdriver then you can get to the bolts to replace the fuse, make sure the battery is disconnected before attempting this. Check the rest of the fuses especially the EFI fuse.

Usually the ALT fuse only blows if the battery was recently jumped BACKWARDS.

    ECT = Electronically Controlled Transmission

    Changes the shift points for the automatic transmission. When engaged,
    the transmission shifts later, allowing the engine to get to a higher
    power level and accelerate faster. Gas mileage is usually reduced in
    this mode. Use it when you need to get up to speed faster; for example,
    to merge into fast moving traffic. The normal position for this switch
    is OFF.

    Could just be the bulb in the switch... you must be able to tell if the gearbox is in ECO or Power mode when driving, one position of the switch make the engine revs higher and the other position feels more sedate

Alternator ? Is your alternator charging? What type of electrical problems are you having.

    I believe the ECT has to do with transmission shift points for for different applications, like up hill, etc. As far as wipers go, are you referring to rear wipers or front?

Battery put in with terminals reversed now no power to interior electrical components and lights

Probably blew the main fuse. Look under hood for a black plastic case marked "FUSES" It will be a large amp fuse, could be marked "ALT" or "BAT".
Please let me know what you find.
