Not knowing anything about your vehicle, I can only advise the symtoms. Rough idle can be 1 of 2 things. More then likley it's the Air/Fuel temp sensor and this should be on the Air filter case. Since you said the case was off the wires cold have been damaged or the sensor could have damaged. This would also give bad perfomance. Second could be Map sensor or mass airflow. They do the same thing but are located in diffrent places. If it's the Mass Air Flow it will be in the ducting from the Air Case to the Intake. This would cause bad idle and even dieing. You prob wouldn't get far if this were the case. I am leaning more twards the first one. (Air/temp sensor.)

WE HAVE A 2002 DODGE 2500 DIESEL AND IT LUNGES AT LOW SPEEDS. IT THROWS NO CODES WHAT IS IT

My 2001 was doing this...would also cut out randomly mid-acceleration and return to idle. Very fun when trying to get up to freeway speed! Turned out to be an accelerator pedal position sensor. Also threw no codes! Was approx a $500 (part+labor) about 4 years ago.

Truck will not idle just dies...see below

Another very likely problem is the throttle position sensor. Is the check engine light on and have you checked the codes? If not, do so. The code won't tell you for sure, but I'll bet it points to the throttle position sensor.
