Question about 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

1 Answer

While driving down the highway, my 2004 Chevy Tahoe displayed a reduce engine power message. The accellerator pedal at that point had no effect on the engine even though it was still running. My manual told me to check the gas cap by lossening it then retightening it. It corrected the problem for about 30 miles, then the solid engine light came back on with the same message. After going through the gas cap procedure again several times, the light and message warning went out. I made it home but am concerned about driving the vehicle for any distance at all now. What may be the prob

The gasket or large o-ring on the under side of the cap might be warn not keeping a tight seal. replace gasket or o-ring, or get a new cap, and see if that cures it.

Does a universal joint on a 2004 Chevy Tahoe make a whining noise when your driving down the road?

a faulty "U" joint is indicated by a harmonic vibration in the car above around 35 mph
at fail point it will click when going slow
the noise could be from wheel bearings or from the engine (alternator, power steering or water pump)

I just had the transmission in my 2004 trailblazer

There is a harness in the engine compartment that has grounded out or shorted. The message 'reduced power' will flash across your driver information display on your gauge cluster. This is somewhat of a common problem for full size Gm trucks (silverado, tahoe, suburban, etc .) and trailblazer/envoy vehicles.

My 2003 chevy tahoe will not accelerate pass 30mph what could be the problem?

Your problem could be in the Transmission, but most likely it is caused by a sensor / electric part called an Accellerator-Pedal-Position-Sensor (APP-Sensor. If it is the APP Sensor, then you should be getting a signal in the information center saying "reduced power" or a Check-Engine Light.

The check engine light keeps coming on in my 2004 Chevy Tahoe. At first when it came on, it would show a warning message that states Reduced Engine Speed and the Tahoe wouldn't have any power. Now, it's...

Most auto parts stores have Scanners that can read the actual Codes causing the check engine light- usually for FREE. Google the Codes to determine what needs fixed.

Do not continue to drive it, as it may cause permanent damage!
