Some of the lights for the controls on the steering wheel are out. Do I pop the knobs off to access the bulbs, or is there another way to access them? 2004 DeVille
Two of the lights on steering wheel buttons are out. Are there light bulbs that need to be replaced? Also, front heated seats aren't working, how do you fix those? I checked fuses and they are good.
Steering wheel lights do not have bulbs you can change. The switch is a sealed asembly with an integral light. Each one costs around $110 at the dealership.
Heated seats have wires inside a fabric cover located betwwen the outside seat skin and the inner foam. Over time, they burn out. You can buy replacements from the dealer and have either them or an upholstery shop install them.

The clock spring assembly was most likely damaged during removal/assembly of the repairs. This assembly controls the airbag/horn/steering wheel functions. It is not that hard to change if you have a steering wheel puller to get the steering wheel off. Here is an exploded diagram. Hope it helps. The very top of the diagram is the clock spring assembly and it will be the first thing you see when the steering wheel is removed
You cant upgrade to HID lights on your car without the proper wiring right? Same with anything electrical in a vehicle if your vehicle didn't have all these extra buttons then your controlling unit for these devices are not compatible and not gonna work. Different units/different functions. You need to have the proper wiring harness for that wheel and the brain that operated all those buttons. Your airbag isn't recognized that's why you have the light on!!!
the bag is done just cut it out then there should be a center nut holding the wheel to the column unscrew and pop it out be careful when popping out the steering wheel the wire assembly should have a quick connect to separate.
i just bought a 2005 malibu maxx from a dealership. It was having a popping sound when i would turn the wheel back and forth. Had the dealership fix it. THEY said they replaced the ( rack and pinion ) for the steering on the car. Don't think there is a recall on that. GM had a lot of problems with that popping noise on their malibu maxx. Hope that might help.
There is a round knob to the left of the steering wheel. This is a light switch. If it's turned to the left, the lights stay off. In the middle, the lights come on when the door is opened or the key is removed. To the right, it will turn the lights on anytime. By default, it should be in the middle (automatic) position. At the center of this switch is another knob that will pop-out if you push it. By turning the knob that pops out, it will change the intensity of your dash lights. Try popping the knob out and turning it all the way to the right. Then push it back in so nobody messes with it. Then make sure the light switch stays in the middle position. Hope this helps.
