If you want a new one try the Ford dealer. I do not think they are too expensive.Call the junk yards they might have one also. compare the prices and decide which way to go.

Pathfinder spare tire wench is broken but cant be removed. I have replacement but cant get old one off

You will need to cut the cable to the wench that holds the tire up, no other way to get at the spare to use it.

Spare tire won't lower on 2005 chev silverado

you can try pulling on tire while turning crank handle. if cable is bound up in wench assembly you may have to hold the spare up and cut the cable then replace the wench

How to remove tire from under the van

There is a compartment inside the rear hatch (sometimes on the driver's side and sometimes on the Passenger side) that you can open and your tire changing equipment and instructions will be in there. (unless someone removed it) The jack handle must be used to "crank" the winch to let down the cable that holds the spare tire in place.

Spare tire cable lowers but tire does not

Here is how to fix it:
-The tire will lower about 2 inches then stop.
-Lower the cable another couple of inches. Lie on your back under the tire and lift the tire weight off the cable.
- With your third hand (get a helper - I used one hand to lift the tire) reach up and over the tire to the wench down tube. You will feel a wire connected to a square piece of metal. Pull on that metal piece, it should pop back for you releasing the tire.(You may have to pull up-and-out if it has a little rust on it.)
-While you have the tire down, clean up the mechanism and apply some grease.
This is a really stupid idea from Chrysler ! , but if you get rust on this you have to go through all of this, ridiculous ! , but that is what you have to do.
Please let me know how it goes.

Hoist to lower spare tire does not work.

Same thing happened to me on my 2002 trailblazer. The last few wraps of the cable was corroded to the point that it wouldn't unwind with the tool supplied. First thing to do is cut the crimped end of the cable off with a grinder or cut off wheel but don't forget to support the spare. This will get the spare out of your way then simply take out the 3 mounting bolts for the cable hoist. At this point you could buy a new cable hoist from the dealer and install it yourself or you might be able to do what I did. I managed to pull and remove about a foot of the rusted cable, slide the rectangular metal piece, that actually holds the spare at the center of the wheel, back on the cable and attach a 1/4" cable clamp to the end of the cable which of course must be in good condition. There should still be enough cable to re-attach your spare to it and hoist it back up. Don't forget to lube things up so it won't happen again. Good luck. (buying a new one sounds better, doesn't it?)

Spare tire

I had the same problem with my 99 Grand Caravan SE and found this solution on a different site. It worked immediately. I used my hip to take the weight off the tire by laying under it sideways (because I don't have a third hand or a helper). Below is a cut/paste from the other site. Good luck!

There is a safety catch on the plastic wench bracket for the dog bone.
Here is how to fix it:
The tire will lower about 2 inches then stop. Lower the cable another couple of inches. Lie on your back under the tire and lift weight off the cable. With your third hand (get a helper - I used one hand to lift the tire) reach up and over the tire to the wench down tube. You will feel a wire connected to a square piece of metal. PS Make sure the spare has 60lbs of air before using it.
