Question about 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette
I replaced the battery and three days later went to start the van and everything was DEAD. I got it jumped and it started hard but was fine. The clock read 12:00 but everything else was fine. I then cleaned the battery cables and checked the new battery which was putting out 12 v. I cleaned connection and put the battery connections back on. The van started hard, I turned the key and it was trying to start for about 10 seconds before it finally turned over. I cannot afford a new van this one only has 106,000 miles on it. It weird the batterys fine but everything is DEAD. Could it be the security system or the alternator?
You better have the alterntor checked, you said the battery was putting out 12v. was that with the car running or off? If it was running, it should have pushing between 14 and 15 volts, if it wasn't with it running, replace alternator.
