Question about 1998 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

Power windows My drivers side window stopped working first. When it went all way way down and the gears jumped the track, so it wouldn't go back up. The motor didn't even make a noise, but when we put it back on the track right it worked. But then the rest of the windows stopped working. Whats wrong with my windows?

Power window on drivers side messing up

I would say the noise is the gears over-running each other. There is a gear on the motor and one on the window regulator.
You probably have a restriction in one of the tracks.

Driver's window

sounds like it has jumped the track. To find out you need to remove inner door panel and check. If it jumped track because the stops may have come loss and need to be re adjusted. If you plan on keeping the car purchase a 20 dollar mechanics manual for it and it will show you how.

Power window off track, motor still works

your window does not ride on a track the motor has a gear that drives a mechanism up and down. it sounds like the motor came loose.
pop the door panel and remount the motor, first pull the window all the way up. hope this helps

Drivers power window will not work, went down ok but will not go up. All other windows work fine.

seems the window motor took a **** on you.. if it is a new car the dealer will help you aside from that..

But if you press up and it makes a grinding noise or so the the window jumped track

Hi Rachel . It sounds like the plug on the drivers window motor (Which is also the ecu for that door) has come off or is loose . This will stop the cdl working as well . Regards VW Audi tech
