2003 Ford Focus Battery Connection Problem?

January 28, 2209 It happened this morning at home, it would not say a thing, all of the lights come on and then go off...but it would not even try to start..I tried 3 times and then it just magically crunk I am at work and tried to leave at lunch and here we go cranking, no nothing. Could this be my starter or alternator....the battery is only 2 months old, my horn works too?
January 29, 2009 ok, I took the car to Autozone yesterday and they check the battery, cables, and the alternator and everythig was good, he cleaned the battery up a bit and it worked fine until today at lunch....I went to the mailbox and the car cut off while I was driving, the gages went crazy jumping and then the car clicked right back on when I pressed the gas ...but then my radio would not come on for about 5 min? It seems to me to be some wires not doing their jobs?

2003 ford focus replaced brake switch lights will work in park but when i engage revs neut drive brake lights stay ?????

I have the same problem with my 03 Focus hatchback! Someone stoppedme yesterday to tell me that they looked like they were always on when i was driving but when i was in "Park" they worked... This particular driver was also driving a focus hatchback and asked me if my Cruise Control was working.. It actually was not and he told me the same thing happened with his focus. He said it was a wire attached to the back brake lights that had broken. I have not yet gotten it fixed. has anyone else had this problem?

My 2003 ford focus started his morning but as soon as I removed my foot from the accelerator my car would die. This happened numerous times this morning.

Your idle control valve is either dirty or bad. You should be getting a check engine light on your dash.
The idle control valve is located on your throttle body.
If you have a check engine light on you will need to plug a OBD II reader in to retrieve the code.
Please let me know what you find.

2003 Ford Focus will not start

Your starter draws far more amperage than just about anything else in the car. Any poor connection at the battery or the other ends of the cables will cause the problem you posted. Make sure that the inside of the battery cables are clean and tight on the battery. If you can't remove them right now to clean them, sometimes just trying to turn them while still installed, will provide enough contact to get it started. After cleaning, If still no start, check other ends of same cables.

Ford Focus occasional starting problems.

Hey there...

Although I'm questioning why it would be doing this mostly on cold mornings, I would suggest that you check your battery connections. 99 times out of 100, the reason that this happens is because one of the battery cables does not have a good connection (Many times it's the ground wire). If you check to make sure that the connections on both ends of both cables are tight, then try taking your vehicle to your local parts store to have them do a load test on your battery. It's possible that the c.c.a. (cold cranking amps) are no longer sufficient to start your car. After awhile, batteries tend to lose their charge due to age, how many times it has been discharged completely, and also frequent cold weather. I believe that this should solve things, but feel free to contact me to ask about any other possibilities that may be causing this, as I'll look into any other similar common issues on your particular make and model. Should be battery cables or battery itself, though. Hope this helps and have a great day!
