Question about 2000 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

I have a diagnostic code of 0420 for my 2000 Toyota Camry. From what I understand, this is an oxygen sensor. I also understand that there are a few oxygen sensors on this moded. Can you tell me if it is an upstream or downstream oxygen sensor or it is something completely different?

Thank you for the feedback. Will I need to take that to a shop that has special machines or can my regular mechanic do it. My regular mechanic is really good at what he does and HONEST to a fault, but doesn't have the computerized machines. What is your recommendation.

How do I replace an oxygen sensor (code 21) in a 1993 Toyota Camry?

you need oxygen socket and 3/8 ratchet wrench.easy way to replace oxygen sensor is to start vechicle let run few minutes just enough to get exhaust system hot so it will make it easier remove oxygen sensor.just remove heat shields disconnect oxygen sensor electrical connector then replace oxygen sensor.use penetrating oil let it soak around oxygen sensor for 20 minutes that will help make it easier to remove sensor.

Diagnostic Trouble Code P1705

Code 1705 is brand specific, for Toyota it is for a problem with a clutch sensor inside the transmission.
The sensor would need to be tested by a mechanic or someone with the tools and diagnostic info.

Understanding trouble codes for my vehicles

first the quest, this is common for nissan, replace the knock sensor, this sensor is located under the intake manifold rear of engine, some models you can sneak sensor out without removing the intake, this will take care of that car. now the camry, im guessing this is a 4 cylinder engine, replace the air fuel sensor (oxygen sensor) thats on the exhaust manifold. this will solve that problem. hope this helped.

My 2000 Camry runs rough. It drives like I have a flat tire, but I have good tires. I had it tuned up, new sparks and plugs, changed oil and new air filter. What could be the problem?

It may be a bank one Oxygen sensor or primary Oxygen sensor. Bring the car to a advanced auto store or auto zone they will run a free diagnostic code check this will more than likely point you in the right direction it may also be a MAF sensor so get the codes read to confirm.

Catalytic converters

If you are going to change the convertors I would just replace the first one closest to the engine. But when a computer code says "bank" they usually are refuring to the Oxygen sensor that is there , they are classified as bank 1 and bank 2. 1 being closest to the engine and 2 being farther down the exhaust. If its a computer code that told you bank 1 you might need to look at your oxygen sensor instead of your catalitic converter.

Stalling Toyota Camry 2004

P-0102 and P-0113 are mass air flow and intake air temp codes, the P-0136 is an Oxygen sensor code. Before you do anything, check for debris in the Mass Air Flow Sensor, it's small black box with electrical wiring connector that is screwed into the intake air tube, between the air box and the intake manifold. Undo the screws, remove the sensor, and, with a flashlight, and look down inside it for debeis, or broken wires inside it. If it's dirty, it could throw a P-0136...Comment back on what you find; hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa!
