There are a combo. of clips and screws use a tool that is made for removing the clips without damaging them it can be found at any auto store its kind of like pliers but works in the opposite direction.

How do you replace drives side exeior door handel for 95geoprizm

1) Remove the plug inside the interior armrest and remove phillips screw.
2) Remove armrest and two screws that hold door panel to door frame.
3) Pop the outer cover off the interior door handle.
4) Remove the interior lock knob and remove door panel by popping out tabs connected to door frame and lifting up off of window ledge.
5) Remove the two nuts holding exterior handle in place.
6) Disconnect the L shaped linkage from the handle. The trick to getting the L shaped linkage into the new handle is to feed L shaped metal pole through hole in door where exterior handle was, leaving the lower end of this linkage in its slot.
7) Feed the end of L shaped pole through the plastic 'hinge' in new handle by folding the hinge over and pushing the end of the L through both sides of the plastic hinge at once. slide the lower loop of the plastic hinge down the L shaped pole to secure pole to handle.
8) Place new handle into door and reverse the process to reinstall interior panel.

Hope this helps Tim

I got a 97 jeep TJ. I am locked out of my jeep the locks on both doors dont unlick at all. I put the key in it turn but does not unlock it's now been three days trying no luck

it almost sounds like the lock to latch linkage is disconnected or broken -- or the latch itself is broken(?),, but I can't imagine both of them being broke :-( --- what is the temperature of where you are right now ? is it super cold ?? ( the latches could be frozen up ).
the only thing that I could think of doing is slim Jimming the door open --- the inside linkage control rods run horizontally from the door latch to the inside lock/unlock lever,, if you can make a 'L' shaped tool out of some stiff wire and put a small gripping bend in the lower end to grip the linkage -- you might be able to wedge a gap between the window and door ( using wooden wedges ),, you might be able to grab the linkage and get the Jeep to unlock.. now if you do not want to take the chance of breaking the window or you do not have a stiff enough wire to do the job --- I would just pay a locksmith the 45 dollars too come out and open the Jeep,, and then when you get the doors open I would pull the inside panels and fix the linkage/latch problems.
and now that I think about it --- does your Jeep not have a rear door that works with a key ?? if it does,, just get in that way and unlock the doors manually and then fix the problem.

Back door won't open on passenger side, can not unlock using power lock or remote

this sounds lock the actuator is frozen, this is the actuator that locks and unlocks the door, when it goes bad it wont move and holds the linkage locked in that postion, you will need to remove the door panel and disconnect the linkage to actuator to open the door then replace the actuator.

Lift door on back will not unlock. Grinding noise

sounds like the door lock actuator is frozen and wont unlock, you will have to get the gate open to replace the actuator, you will have to remove the paneling to get inside the door, then dissconnect linkage to actuator, then make sure linkage to latch is free and not frozen, then double check the actuator while dissconnected, hit the lock/unlock button and see if the actuator moves it should not but will make alot of noise.

It wont be pretty but examine other rear door and be familiar with retaining fixings,ie door grab handle , window winder , and any screw fixings .
Remove what you can and maybe the rear seat also (sorry) The window winder removal is easier than you think ! It's held on by a horse shoe shaped spring clip, remove with a simple shoe lace or narrow piece of cloth pulled in the opposite direction of the horse shoe clip.(don't loose) This is about as much as I can help you , after this it's a tug and pull (against snap fixxings) upward lifting motion of the panel. Good Luck

Door Ajar light and interior lights will not shut off

Check your switch some wear around the door jams. Could be covered in a rubber protective corver. It will push in and out with your finger. Some are actullay in side the door behind the Panel attached to a Linkage on the hinge side. On the push type, When door is closed it grounds out against the frame of your car. If this does not happen then you get the problem your having now. On the linkage type you have to take the door panel off to get to the switch. There should be a plastic linkage on the hinge side of your door if you have that type. check for beaks there as well.

Door linkage on audi tt 2001

you need to unscrew the inner door panel. It is held by one screw which is hidden behind the lower end of the inner door handle. Is a circular silver cover which you need to twist anticlockwise and remove. You then need to unscrew the screw, lift up the door panel to let it loose, then you will see a small hook like cable whch connects to the outer door. hinge it back into place and the doors will work.
