Windshield wipers stuck upright when off

My windshield wipers are working but will not return to the down position. When in the off position they keep returning upright into the middle of the windshield? Is this the motor or possibly the Motor Pulse board?

Where is the cal or kal located on the car that needs to be taken off? The shop wants to charge $150 to do this with me supplying the part! Does anyone have access to a diagram that may assist me in fixing this myself?

You have to be very careful when replacing the motor. One wrong move and you will crack your front windshield. I watched it happen!!!! It's worth the 150 to allow someone else to be liable.

SOURCE: windshield wipers stuck upright when off

This is a commoon problem with what is called the "Park pawl stop". The tab is most likely bent and needs to be re-aligned, then the wipers need to be re-timed. This re-timing can be a little difficult, although the re-aligning of the tab is failry simple.

Wipers get stuck in the upright position when they are turned off.

The wire part contacts are defective, you will need to replace the wiper motor in most cases to correct this. Before buying or replacing any parts have a VW experienced tech look at the problem.

My windshield wipers are stuck in an upright position when they are turned off. they run fine when they are on. what is the problem and is it an easy fix

The wiper blade arm may have stripped the splines that keep it in position on the wiper motor shaft.Sometimes you need a special
arm puller to remove the blade arm, but if it's stripped,it will pull off pretty easy. If yopu take it off, look inside to see if the splines are stripped inside, where the motor shaft holds the arm.It will look all
rounded off, and not sharp ridges.Make sure you start taking it off,
with the arms in their normal down position, and the car off.
Good luck.

Wipers willnot return to park position

I've fixed this problem before. You have to disconnect the wiper transmission from the wiper motor. Put wipers in off position, unbolt the plate on top of wiper, turn wipers on then off. In the off position see where the wiper transmission is position in relation to where the park position is, remove the top plate from wiper motor and position it so as to be able to reconnect the wiper transmission now in the proper place. Please keep me informed. thanks you

2005 impala windshield wiper

the wirpers are connected to a shaft. the shaft is connected to a motor. The shaft must have turned and wipers were stuck and didn't move. So you will need to pull of each wiper arm and reposition with wipers turned off.

Whindshield wipers stuck in a vertical position

This is an easy fix. Likely ice got on your windshield and froze your wipers to the glass then when turned on moved out of position. Take the cover off the base of the wipers and loosen the bolts. Put them down all the way and tighten. When wipers are turned on when frozen to glass the gears want to move but cant and loosens at the base. Please let me know if this does not help and will look into it further but this is probably it. Thanks
