Question about 1986 Buick Regal
I took my car out the other day, started fine, ran fine for about half a block when the engine just cuts out. No weird sounds just turned off. Couldnt get it to start back up (engine cranked just didn't turn over) so I had a friend tow me home. The next day I tried to start it up again and it ran just fine. Drove it hard for about 15 mins before taking it home. Decided to check the distributor right after (incase some moisture had gotten in there since it had been raining the past few days) to clean the contacts, put it back together and it didnt want to start again. Replaced the distro coil and that didnt help. So the next day I put the disto back together and it started fine again. So I've been talking to people and 2 things seem to stick out. Either the distro is causing me to lose spark thru a a faulty wire or my engine is flooding. Any thots?
Sounds like the ICM is going bad.(Unless for some weird reason you have points)It is locate inside the distributor.
I had the same problem on my firebird after it was parked for 3 months, the heat grease just broke down and allowed it to over heat.
You should also check the fuel screen on the fuel inlet.
Please rate this a fixya
