Belts? Mice? Hallucination? ALL DEPENDS ON WHERE THE "SQUEAKING" IS COMING FROM.
Open the hood. If the squeaking is coming from the area of the serpentine belt, it is probably time to replace your belt. Also, check all fluid levels.
If the squeaking is coming from a particular pulley (such as the air conditioning compressor or the power steering hydraulic pump), there may be a problem with whatever the pulley is attached to.
If the squeaking appears to be coming from outside of the car, you are scaring the mice or hallucinating.
A use tip for all car owners. no specific model/make.
The Belt of the a/c to the solenoid pulley or the main belts can create a lot of squeaking noise. Start the car to hear the noise now pour some water into the belt and the noise will subside off . You have the noise confirmed of a belt as sometimes it will trick you to think of water pump bearings, alternator bearings or even engine noises. Stop the engine and check for play in the belt if so tighten the belt If not use some chalk power or candle wax to be rubbed into the belt that was making the noise - the a/c drive belt - or the main belts.. Now start and check . the nosie would be reduced or gone.
You can have the belts changed sooner or later.
Squeaking? Maybe a mouse? lol. This could be many things, from a fan belt squeak to a suspension bushing squeak to a loose bolt squeak. You need to try and pin point it a little better. Have a passenger put his ear to work by trying to locate it if it is coming from inside the drivers compartment.
