Do not understand, You did the head, but the machine shop inspected the head and cut it on, resurface it, and than you installed a new head, and also You have replaced your thermostat and to finish you have to let all air go of your coolant by running the engine for longer than 20 minutes with radiator or coolant cap off, make sure You torque it from the inside across and expanding zigzag to the ends

1999 Kia sportage loosing power under moderate acceleration.

It sounds like a head gasket issue. Do a compression check to see if all cylinders are within specs. If you find there is an issue, decide if it is worth the repair cost. If you choose to repair it you will also want to check for an exhaust leak close to the engine such as flex pipe and also back pressure from a plugged converter. Otherwise you could end up blowing the head gasket again.

Engine overheating 2004 kia rio changed thermostat, lots of antifreeze, still overheating

Then the problem is the water pump or a cracked Head, blown head gasket or cracked cylinder wall causing over pressure in the cooling system. Replace the water pump first then consider the other problems. If you do a compression check and have compression on all cylinders but extremely high compression on 1 or 2 then the problem is the Head gasket, head or Cylinder wall being cracked.

OK my friends..I found out that the battery cable was bad on my daughters 2000 Kia. I turn the key, the engine cranks, and water starts to pour out of the exhaust. Head gasket, right. 131,000 miles. I ask...

Is water disappearing from the header tank? It`s common to get water out the exhaust especially on cold days but if it`s disappearing from the header tank and it`s difficult to turn over then it does sound like the head gasket. It may be repairable but you would need to remove the head and have it checked by an engineering company for flatness and pressure testing.

Please tell your Mom not to buy this car. These vehicles are poorly designed, and are prone to frequent failures. A Toyota RAV4 or a Honda CR-V would be a far better choice.

The motor is bad it burns water

Hi:
If your Kia sportage is using water, it might just need a new head gasket, as that is a common cause of water consumption.
