Ford taurus, heat doesn't work

My friend has a ford taurus that the heat does not work on. whenever you turn the knob into the red you hear a clicking sound coming from inside the dash board. I am wondering what could be causing this sound and if it could be what is causing the heat to not work. And also the fan does work and blow air it just doesnt get hot.

If both heater hoses are hot, the problem could be a stuck or faulty blend door under the dash.
The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and out the vents.

The click you are hearing is most likely the start slenoid making contact, however you should short the large wires @ the solenoid to make certain the starter still doesn't run, if so try tapping the starter with a hammer to shift the comutator a litle and try to start. Even if it now starts the starter will continue to give you problems so the proper fix is change the starter

fill your radiator, if that doesn't fix it then your heater core is most likely dead.

When you turn heater on it only blows cool air.

Turn the AC/heater dial to the right ... not left...
(clockwise, not counter-clockwise)
Turn temerature knob to the RED marking..
You should hear a clicking noise ... then HOT air...

Also: The heater core may be clogged.... Use radiator flush to clean out cooling system.
