It might fix the problem but you may also have a shift sensor that is starting to go bad as well take you suburban to autozone or an o'reillys if you have one of those auto parts stores near you and they can do a scan on all the sensors to tell you if your vehicle is showing any problems with any of your sensors I hope this helps you out.

My 1994 GMC Suburban wont shift out of first.....but will shift to second manually but wont go any higher........?

Sounds like a vehicle speed sensor, it governs shifting based on engine RPM vs Transmission RPM among other things. Located usually on the rear tailshaft or rear transfer case on the majority of 4L60E automatics.

1996 gmc suburban transmission shift problem

96 gm trucks had a proble with third gear burning out because of a ground issue from pcm..there was a bulletin for adding a new ground for third gear control circuit...aftermarket trans shops do not remember this problem and it is often overlooked..take to local dealership and you should be able to get problem resolved

Flywheel on 1997 Chevy Suburban 1500 broken

I would say about $200-400. It involves disconnecting the transmission and torque converter bolts to the flywheel (3 bolts) and moving the transmission back far enough to remove the flywheel.

I have a '03 Chevy Suburban 1500, 5.3L engine. When the transmission shifts from 3rd into overdrive(4), the rpm's rev up, this doesn't happen all the time but enough to notice it! Would a tranny flush...

Sounds like your "lockup torque converter" is going bye bye. You can buy some time by disconnecting the wiring the engages it. Or drive around in 3rd but ultimately your tranny is going to fail from contamination. You can confirm this by dropping the trans pan and checking for debris. You probably also experienced a "shudder" or "vibration" maybe months ago instead of the reving up symptom. That would have been an early symptom. Now it's probably too late. If you do have the trans replaced, make SURE that the cooler gets a thorough flush or the life of the new tranny will be shortened.
