Question about 1998 Honda Civic

Ticking sound from engine compartment

Kia Sedona.

Theres a ticking (Wining) sound, that you would think sounds like a tappet problem, but this sound increases when you accelerate and decreases on slowing down. It seems to be more apparent when it is very cold weather, I thought it may be the diesel turbo. Anyone else have a similar problem??

Hi.. Ok this ticking or clicking sound started a few weeks ago, around the time the weather got really cold.. When I start the engine there is a sound like the cooling fan is hitting something, but its not the fan.. this sound speeds up when you hit the gas pedal and slows down when off the gas pedal.. also the engine is very sluggish.. graham

From what you're saying, it sounds like the lifters are tapping, almost like a clicking if i'm correct. Go to Advance Auto Parts, and buy some Seafoam in a can, you can pour some directly into your oil, and the noise should sieze. Also pour some in your gas, it really helps the engine. If you ask the cashier, they will take you right to it.

My 96 eldorado is making a ticking sound, it sounds like its inside the engine. It ticks faster when you give it gas. What could this be?

Better get a mechanic to check it out before you drive it very much.
Could be a lifter or piston pin with no oil.

I don't think I made myself clear on my last question

The firing order sounds strange but if you are correct then you are right in saying that number 2 cylinder will be down with inlet valves open when number 1 cylinder is at TDC.

Black sandy dirt in the dipstick and valve compartment

it sounds like a lack of oil changes to me?the engine has a lot of carbon build up.clean the valve cover and the breather pipes to remove as much carbon as posible maybe try a good engine flush.

Think something wrong with engine

Looks like your engine tappets are loose and needs to be taken to mechanic fox them as they are located under the rocket cover on top of the engine.

Kia sedona. Knocking sound from Engine

You dont have a choice. if this is not handled it might make you loose this car totally. Consult an expert in your location to have a look at the cylinder.

How do I change the Sparkplugs on a 2005 kia sedona van? Theres a plastic cover (No Problem). Remove wires (No Problem) Except the top of the plug looks different than most & recessed very far into engine....

it sounds like you removed the intake manifold if not you need to remove it. Use a 5/8 spark plug socket 2 extensions and ratchet I hope this helps you

Kia sedona. Ticking sound from engine compartment that increases when accelerating, more apparent in cold weather.. any ideas???

hi how are you? a ticking sound would be from one or more bad lifters. tyr to give it a oil change with a lighter weight oil for the winter.if that does not get rid of it then your lifters are no good and would need to be replaced.
