Question about 1991 Isuzu Trooper

2 Answers

I have a 91 iszu trooper the hose for the oil cooler is leaking and i cant find any place that sells one as described, MASSIVE oil rupture in oil cooler line, developed over a month, 80% worsened to it's current state in the last week. Did not find leak until after eliminating all other possibilities due to the rubber insulation on the steel braiding diverting oil leak flow. I cannot find a replacement anywhere as there are no dealers in my town and all the parts stores only offer to cut the line and use aftermarket replacement hose and clamps.

Yup, had the same problem and had to find a hydraulic hose company. I brought them my old lines and they built me new ones. I paid about 25.00 and I was good to go. Good luck

I also have 91 trooper and mine did the same thing.I had to take mine to a place that works on hydrolic lines couse you cannot get this line through the dealer discontinued. It cost me 15.00 dollers to fix it.The only thing is you have to take the line off the truck for them to fix it.Or you can get a upgraded systom from a dealer that will cost you around 400.00 dollers i said hell no the truck isnt worth that much so i got the line repaired as i told you to do they will cut the bad part out and piece it back together with pressure fittings hope this helps you out

It appears that a oil line ( rubber hose) that is apparently under pressure ruptured. Oil is all over the engine, with a significant spill on the ground under the front end, yet when I checked the oil...

What about the transmission lines, or the power steering hoses, I don't think much is going to stick to it, for about $35 you can get it towed

Win i start the car and look under the hood, there is oil coming out of a box that is, on the side of the block. But above the oil filter ?? . How do i fix that, is it a gasket or what ??

That is the engine oil cooler. There is a 'O' ring between it and the oil filter mount. They harden and crack.

Ask your dealer for the large Oil Cooler 'O' Ring.

Remove oil filter. Remove exposed pipe nut holding oil cooler to housing. If nessacary, drain coolant so you can disconnect coolant hoses from cooler or catch coolant as hoses disconnected. Swing oil cooler away and remove old 'O' ring.

Place new 'O' ring with grease on oil cooler it to hold it in place and reassemble. Tighten oil filter pipe nut to around 18 ft lbs .

Refit oil filter. Refit coolant hoses and top of oil and coolant.
Run engine to check for leaks and allow to cool. Top of coolant to COLD level if required.

You will need hose clamp pliers and wrench for oil cooler pipe nut. Pliers can be obtained from most parts stores.

Oil hose leak 97 4x4 Blazer

Oil cooler lines that lead to your radiator or to a cooler mounted in front of radiator. The hoses are quick couplers with o-rings so there is no way to tighten. I don't know why they would leek so often but they usualy go bad where the rubber line gets crimped to the steel line. Not sure if you can get a different oil filter block without the oil cooler line hook ups. This way you can eliminate the cooler lines,or remove the quick couplers at both ends of where your cooler lines hook up and just run hydraulic hoses in place of your coller lines.Where i live you can get hydraulic hoses made at hundreds of places but may not be so redily avalible where you are.

Oil leak 91 accord

Is this an Accord EX? The canister is an oil cooler; there is a seal between it and the block. The cooler is attached with a single large bolt in the center that also has the threads on which the filter is installed.

The first thing to do is to clean the entire area then drive it for a bit and it should show you where it is comming from.If you have the remote filter meaning up under the hood or just under the front bumper you probably have a leaking hose going to the filter from the engine.
