You can, With Low Profile Tires But, Be aware, It will Considerably Effect the Ride of the Vehicle. Some become a Lot Harder to Steer. It is a Personal Choice But, I Prefer the Factory Size with Really Nice Rims to Keep the Ride and Handling that it had as New. Please Rate my Solution, I need all the Help that I can Get! Thanks!

I have a 2001 pt cruiser needs rims and tires size on it now are235/45/R17 size on chart inside driver door is 195/65/R15 or 205/55/R16 not sure which size to buy please help thankyou

The number after the r is the rim size. According to your post you have 17 inch rims. Stock rims were 15 inches or optional 16 inches. Unless you are putting a different size rim on then you need a17 inch tie to fit your current rim

Is it ok to put spacers on my 1998 grand Marquis to fit my twenty two in rims how much do i have to raise it and wat could happen if i continue driving without raising

Spacers behind the rims are definitely illegal as the stud length will be too short and too small for the extra load. IF you don't raise it then I think that the wheels will hit on the guard edges and get cut to pieces . You will have to raise it so that the maximum deflection of the suspension ( distance between the suspension bump stop and the chassis ) is greater than the distance between the top of the tyre and the guard edge by at least 1/2 inch. The profile of the tyres will be very small say 250.25/22 and that will be minimum side wall between the rim and the ground . Remember that you have to retain the same overall diameter of the tyre as was originally specified for the vehicle or you will be put of the road and face a heavy fine all for no advantage other than to say it looks good.

I have a 1996 caddillac deville I put 22'' inch rims on with no problem, but a week ago I was driving and my car dipped and float up and down smoothly. It wasnt a pot hole it was a dip. anyways my rim tire...

try dropping down a width size in tyres and see if that will give you the clearance you need That is if you have 250 -50/22 tyres now come back to say 200-50/22 tyres . I don't know what tyres you are running but what I am saying is get the side walls to sit up straighter by putting on a narrower tyre . There will be a solution and the people to talk with are your local tyre shop people.. You may also be able to fit plates behind the rims on longer wheel studs to give you the clearance you require.

Having problems with balance

You need to explain this problem better. At this point I assume it is with your tires. Do you have steel or alum. rims are they stock or are they 22 inches more or less. Is the tire store having the problem with your car? FYI tire balancing needs to be done with dynamic and static balancing. If someone is trying to balance tires using stick-on weights so the weights won't show on the outside of the rim.? If so this is wrong. Weights should be installed on the outside and the inside at the edge of the rim where it meets with the tire. Hammered on weights not stick-on's. This needs to be done to insure dynamic and static balance is preserved. If you don't like the looks of a weight on the outside of the rim then you will have to live with the vibration. At the outrageous pricing of tires I prefer to see the weight.

Would i have to alter my 99 expedition if i put 22" rims on it?

Probably not the way to tell is measure the circumference of your wheel [22 inch] with the total hieght of your tire add the two and the measure the clearance between the top of your fender to the ground and keep in mind turning distance of the wheel and tire between the fender...

Can I put a 14 x 6 rim with +30mm offset on this vehicle? I can get them cheap for the snow tires I want to mount. The stock rims do not have this much positive offset. I think it is more like +12. I am...

Yes. the 185/70 are a bit slim for the 6-inch rims - but should bite the rim safely. Wider snow tires would give more traction in snow and ice... and fit the 6-inch rims better.... good luck!! (From sunny North Carolina)
