Question about 2003 Isuzu Rodeo

ABS LIGHT STAYED ON THEN WENT OFF

I don't even know what the ABS is, but the idiot light came on and said "ABS". It hasn't come back on again (2 days); just curious as to what it is and what it does and should I worry that it came on. Where in the owner's manual is ABS addressed?

Abs stands for antilock braking system. If your light has gone out after it has been on you probably don't have a serious problem. If you live in a snowy area the snow can build up in the wheels and cause the sensors not to read properly. There are other causes for the sensors not to read wheel speed. But If it were my vehicle i would not worry unless the light stays on and doesn't go out. NOTE: the falure of the abs system will not adversly affect the normal braking of your vehicle. However without it the wheels will lock up if you have a panic stop!
hope this helps!

kathleen i can bet this would be about as excitiing to you as reading the phonebook but it will give you and understanding of what the abs is.

Stop in at autozone and have the scan the codes on your vehicle to try and figure out what is wrong with them.

A.B.S. stands for Antilock braking system.
If your ABS light came on,,it may have been due to road conditions, or your braking system may need to be checked out.
