I hope U haven't already had the shop do the repair. First U should see if the battery has the power to crank your engine, U can take the battery to an Auto Parts store to check it. If not the battery then it could be the starter. But as far as cost, yes so repair shops will charge to much if U let them. I would check the BBB on the shop.
