I have a similar problem. My check engine light comes on and tell me the issue is with cylinder 4. I changed the wires and plugs and it runs great as long as I am in gear. As soon as I put it in park the engine runs a little rough and the engine light comes back on. Any ideas?

Rough idle on 2002 Dodge Neon

Without trouble codes you are fishing in the dark. If the engine has a cylinder that is dead at idle from a fuel injector or ignition problem, it should have a code for a miss on that cylinder. A mechanical problem like a burned valve could cause the problem without setting a code. Have you checked compression on all 4 cylinders ? ?

Missfire on cylinder 8 on bmw 545

move the ignition coil to another cylinder and see if the miss fire moves. If so replace that ignition coil. If the miss fire stays on that cylinder it is more likely the fuel injector. Was their carbon on the spark plugs when you removed them? This is indicative that the fuel injector is gummed up.

#3 and #4 cylinder not firing?

First i would replace the sparkplugs and sparkplug wires. Then if problem still exists then have the injectors cleaned and check for a bad connection to the injectors.

Cylinder misfire code is on

Its either a bad sparkplug wire or a bad injector.REplace the plug wires and have the injectors cleaned. Also check the injector connection.

My 1998 plymouth neon has a number 4 cylinder misfire. changed plugs, wires, coil pack. still misfires. does it at slow speeds and really bad when trying to get up to speed when entering the highway....

CHECK FUEL INJECTOR WIRING TO NUMBER 4 INJECTOR,HOOK A TEST LIGHT TO MAKE SURE IT BLINKS WHILE ENGINE RUNNING.THAT WAY YOU WILL KNOW IF PCM FIRING THE FUEL INJECTOR OR FAULT AT THE INJECTOR WIRING OR YOU HAVE INTAKE LEAK LOW COMPRESSION TO THAT CYLINDER BECAUSE OF BAD BURNED OUT VALVE.COMPRESSION TEST TO THAT CYLINDER CAN ALSO HELP.LOOK FOR LOOSE OR WORN DAMAGE ROCKER ARMS IF YOU HAVE A SOHC SINGLE OVER HEAD CAM ENGINE.

Check engine light is on, they say multiple miss fire in cylcinder 6. but no one can find the problem van runs great

first do a cylinder compression test on engine to verify good engine compression this should be around 110psi to 175 psi check for vacuum leak, intake port for #6 cylindermay be leaking air, or also check coil for that cylinder, if wire and spark plug have already been changed, last replace fuel injector for that cylinder.

4th cylinder not firing but have visualy seen spark by plug...replaced spark plugs...spark plug wires...coil pack...thought maybe cloged fuel injector...replaced,still missing and engine light on

have check engine checked at an autozone for free. it could be an egr valve or a stuck lifter or numerious other things testing needs to be proformed to narrow it down.

99 dodge caravan #4 cylinder misfires, i replaced spark plug wires and spark plugs. Scanner showed #4 still misfiring, could this be the coil?

It could very well be a bad coil pack,or you have low compression in that cylinder. If the compression is good then go with the coil pack,if not you may need a head gasket or an intake manifold gasket.
