Our 2008 dodge ram 2500 frequently has strong smell of exhaust fumes
in cab mostly when we stop at stop light. we have tried to experiment
with the jake brake on or off and see if it makes any differents. does anyone have these similar problem and have any solutions.

Hello dedunwoodie. Your heater core is beginning to leak coolant. As the fan blows through it it is picking up the liquid and depositing it on your windshield. It will need to be replaced to solve your problem.
Check your inline fuel filter also check your plugs wires for wear. Sounds like a possible Vacuum leak, when not starting. How ever strong smell suggests unburnt fuel. You may want to try a fuel system cleaner to remove any moisture in the fuel system and carbon build up in the exhaust if so try Seafoam available at your local auto parts store. The tuff part is getting to the nuts that clamp the exhaust housing to the exhaust manifold. You may need to modify (heat up and bend) some wrenches to get them all off. Be sure to prime the new turbo before running it.
