Question about 1999 Ford Escort
I recently acquired a V reg 1800 diesel escort, it's a dreadful starter when cold.
I've had fitted new glow plugs, a none return valve on the fuel line back to the tank, a new filter fuel housing and I've had the electrics checked by a Bosch registered auto electricians in Stockport. Now I've run out of money so I bought a starter/charger to get it going when cold.
As usual with a diesel when the engine is warm it runs great and starts easy. Help
For a short term solution, you could run a small electric heater within the engine compartment which will keep everything nice and warm for your early morning starts.
I remember my father using an extension trouble light and leaving it under the engine compartment during the winters.
