Clutch petal stays up with too much pressure car stays in neutral like pedal is pressed to floor

Sounds like an internal clutch/pressure plate issue. Possible broken torsional vibration spring in the clutch assembly keeping clutch engaged. The transmission will have to be removed and clutch inspected/replaced.

Vw golf mark4 over revs

Hello James,

If the engine revs up with no increase in speed, your clutch is slipping. Probably the reason the car was sold!

Hi, I have a problem with my 1996 vw golf's transmission. The clutch pedal is stays on the floor, and is disengaged. could you give me some direction as to what my problem is?

If you check your fluid in the clutch master cylinder and there is none that means you have a leak. Make sure you add brake fluid. Pull the clutch pedal up by hand and keep pumping it until you have pedal, than top it off with more fluid. This should give you pedal until you fix it unless the leak is so bad you can't get pedal. There is two places that leak. The clutch master cylinder or the clutch slave. You should be able to see where it is leaking after pumping the pedal.

Shift problem on mk4 vw golf with manual trans

Does it happen after you drive it? make sure the clutch assy. is not getting hot. If it is make sure to remove you foot form the clutch pedal just a little pressure can make the clutch slip. And heat will not let the clutch assy. to work right. If it is not getting hot check the shifting cables and the bushings on the transmission

From what I am gathering. the pedal and cable assemblys are ok. then it is time to tear into the clutch its self. Sounds like the throwout bearing is bad.

The cluch petal on my 1993 VW golf wount spring back up

If it is a hydraulic clutch system,,then you have a failure of the hydraulic clutch system, if its a cable,,then either the cable has snapped inside the harness or at either end,,or has become disconnected at the clutch release arm.

Clutch pedal not returning to position

Under the dash look to see if there is a spring attached to the petal or maybe under the hood. Or you might have something getting in the was of the petal arm. Good Luck and PEACE
