Re: intermentantly stops running at stop lights
A very common problem .you have 6 fuel injectors that are like tiny electrical solenoids.with a resistance of about 12.4 ohms.there is probably one that is not ohming out correctly probably around 7.5ohms or so .please take to a trusting shop so each injector can be ohmed out.if low they will have to replace the bad injector or injectors.when they become lower resistance they will short out and shut off the injector driver in the computer then it will stall some times wont start back right away!

seems like theres a build up of carbon in the intake. you can try the pour in gas tank cleaners for fuel injection cars which you have and after 2 or 3 of those with 2 or 3 full tanks it will clean the injectors and the carbon out of the intake. And if you really want to get them cleaned up even better and stop all the rough idling, take the intake off yourself and clean all the black stuff off anywhere you see it. Thats the carbon build up. Especially on the butterfly valve area. It will not only run better for you but get better gas mileage as well.
Get the codes read. you will get a better idea of where to start testing to repair this one. Most auto parts stores will do this for little or nothing. Please get back to me and we can trouble shoot this together.
Hello, I have 1996 Ciera with rebuilt engine pretty new, also fuel filter and fuel pump replaced but I have a problem, the car starts and runs well cold but once car has been running for a few hours, either stopping or coming to a stop it starts to idle roughly and has come to a stop at different occasions. Check engine light does come on and off occasionally. Can you help?
Sounds like you could have gotten some water in your fuel tank from that fill up. Go to a autoparts store and get a product to put in the tank that takes care of water in fuel. Use it when you fill the tank up a few times after and hopefully it goes away. Whenever you can't sustain power in the engine or it runs rough then your cruise control will constantly be shut off because the engine doesn't have the power to keep the speed up and should go away once your engine is running clean again.
Remove your ignition module and take it to a parts house to be tested. This is common behavior for a failing module after it gets warm. Have them check it several times to insure it gets hot during testing.
I've never seen a samurai without a PCV valve hooked up. You sure its just missing it cuase that is what releases the pressure build up in the engine. If not working/installed then you're gonna get piston blow by, oil burning, and a rough running engine.
