I caught it with the empty wheelie bin and was shocked when it was dangling off. There is no evidence of anythiong broken off and all the elctrics are in tact. I have taped it bnack for the moment but there must be a simple solutiohn other than a complete new mirror because everything is still there!

Always refer to your owners manual, but if there is no key switch in the glove box, you probably have the sensor system which monitors weight in the passenger seat. If you have more than 30lbs in the seat the airbag is "on" and the sensors are activated. Otherwise the passenger side is off if the seat is empty.
There should be 2 bolts in a bow-tie shaped braket on the top of the shock, with a nut on the other side, through the frame. There should be one large bolt and nut on the bottom of the shock, through a braket on the rear axle.
Lift the vehicle up by the frame on both sides, so that the axle is dangling underneath the vehicle, and the shocks should be very easy to remove and reinstall.
First inside the pull cup where you pull to close the door remove the screw located there.
Now look in behind the inside door handle and you will see a cap cover, remove this and you will see another screw that has to be removed.
Now on the front of the door panel you will see 2 push pins that will need to be removed. These are 2 piece pins so take a small pick and remove the center piece first then remove the outer piece.
Now you will need a pair of needle nose pliers or a trim tool and start at the bottom of the door panel you will need to insert the pliers or trim tool and pry out(take your time and be careful not to damage panel, slide the tool along until you reach a clip then pry out to release the clip)and work your way up the sides of the door panel to release all of the clips. There will be seven of these clips. After you have all seven clips released then lift up on the panel to remove it.
Now you can remove and replace the mirror.
After getting door panel off
Peel back the water-shield.
Remove the rear view mirror mounting hole cover
Disconnect the power mirror electrical connector.
Now remove the 3 screws holding the mirror and remove.
to replace it you have to open up the door take off the little plactic piece in the corner of the door,, then there is going to be 3 screws that you have to remove in order to remove the old one, just do the steps in reverse to replace the new mirror, i just had the same issue, but on the driver side.. good luck
you can find these on ebay very cheap, remove caps on interior, should just pop off, unbolt the mirror and pop off, make sure you undo the clip on for the cord first so you dont have the mirror dangling and scratch the paint.
