I think the 94 is an EEC-IV system, not ODB. Requires an EEC-IV (4) codescanner, they arent too expensive. good luck!

Why does the check engine light come on?

connect an obd2 scanner to the port under the steering wheel area & read out the trouble codes

reset the car's computer with the scanner and then see if those same codes come back at a later time

then, proceed with looking up those codes on google search & begin the fixing of the damaged wiring or component

my local autozone or advance auto parts can do this service of scanning for trouble codes FREE in my area of the USA

Check engine light

Go to your local auto parts store and ask them to check the codes for you. Most will do this as a free service to get you to buy the parts to repair your car and this will clear the code. They can read you the codes only. They can offer advice as to how to repair your car and that will make the code go away.

Engine check light comes on after 15 mins driving

Go to your local Auto parts store and ask them to read the code for you, they should do this as a free service. They should also offer advice as to the parts needed and repairs to fix the problem. They can not clear the code though.

How do you reset the code for the cadalyc converter

Your local auto parts store can reset your computer with an obd-ll scanner(as long as check engine light is on)..or you could simply disconnect the battery for about 15 min. This will not mask mechanical issue with your catalytic converter or 02 sensors whichever case may be..It will only clear the code and give your car's computer a chance to re-run its emmision tests..Check engine light will be back if an emmisions part has failed or needs repair..All this to the best of my knowledge with the information provided.....Hope this helps and best of luck with your automotive endeavors.

btw, the autostore(advance auto, autozone, etc...) will normally give you a printout of your cars obd-ll codes(which cause check engine light to illuminate) if you ask. They may even offer up some guidance but keep in mind they"re trying to sell parts.

We just bought vehicle-service engine lightjsut came on. What does it mean

If you take it to your local auto parts store like Autozone or Advance Auto parts they should be able to read your trouble code with a scanner for FREE. Usually when the Check Engine or Service Engine light comes on it means the Vehicle Computer has read something was not right. Good Luck.

My check engine light had been come'n on and going off now its staying on what should i do....

Get an OBD-II scanner (like a $98 one at Walmart) that can scan the computer for stored codes. This can tell you what to check for and lead to a solution for your engine's problem.

There are hundreds of possible codes that can arise on today's engines that can affect driveability and efficiency.

How can i check for error codes?

There is no built in way of checking codes without the use of a scantool.
There are several low priced but very basic scanners available at auto parts stores, ranging from $25-75 for basic scanning..

Many auto parts stores will scan your codes for you free of charge (in hopes of selling parts).
AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, and O'Reilly are 3 stores that offer free check engine light scanning.
