Yes your dimmer switch may have the option to turn on the interior lights so try that out. also check overhead console for the same option.

if none of that is the case find what door ajar switch does not look like the rest. and as you go door to door, when you open the door and locate the ajar switch, push them in maually which is a little black button mounted to the body. more then likely arount the striker plate for the door latch

1996 jeep grand cherokee no automatic interior lights

1. If you have the light switch in the wrong mode the lights will not operate when you open the door.

2. If the interior lights do not operate at all (ie you cannot switch them on and off manually)then you need to check the fuse for the interior lights.

3. When set to the correct mode, the interior lights will operate from a door operated switch so if the switch has failed the lights will either stay on or not operate at all when you open and close the door. Eventually these door switches fail with repeated use and need to be replaced. (Consider how many times the small door switch has been operated since 1996).

On the 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee if you look in the glove box, on the front of it there are 3 screws remove them and there are relays and fuse under it. the front one on the right hand side is the interior lights.

Interior lights wont go out

First you can check your door adjar switches. Unplug one at a time to see if your dome light shuts off. If it shuts off replace switch that was unplugged. If this does not help your problem is the ignition switch. Thanks

My jeep has a problem with the interior lights blink on and warning chime comes on only when I turn left, any ideas

Either your passenger door is not shut all the way, or the switch in the door jam is loose or not set properly.
