It is the cluster, this is happening in a lot of Chevy's but they have not done a recall on it as of yet, I called Chevy and got the information. it is aprox 500.00 to fix.

    thanks for the info

First the tac went, then today the speedometer went. No other problems with vehicle functioning.

Honestly i am having sort of the same problem with my guages but my rpm's and fuel guage are not working..... this is my second trailblazer and there always has been something wrong with the guages... what i think it is the cluster itself.... maybe the cluster or the wiring is screwed up........ if u got the engine light then go to auto zone and get it tested for FREE.... they will give u the code then go see inside whats wrong with your car.. i did it last night and kind of figured the problem........ goodluck

I can't speak for the engine light issue, but look into stepper motors for your gauges for the oil pressure issue. I just purchased a used '04 Trailblazer EXT and the tachometer stopped working 1 week after driving it off the lot. I did some looking and apparently the Delphi motors that GM used do not hold up. I have a 2004 Trailblazer with just under 90K miles. Today, the Check Gages light flashed on-off-on-off a bunch of times and the oil gage was going all over the place! The light went off and the oil gage...

It sounds like the stepper motor that drives the gauge is going bad, this is a common problem. There are vendors on E-bay that service instrument clusters, if you are willing to remove it from the vehicle.

2004 chevy trailblazer 73,000 miles

the first place to start is the flashing engine lite. that means cylinders are not firing at all or improperly and driving it like that for even short period could cause heavier damage. particularly valves and cat converter(s) the computer really needs to be scanned for codes in order to proceed. did the oil lite come on before or after engine quit. after engine quit would be normal cause it stalled. its possible that it needs spark plugs and/or coils. or more
