Question about 2008 Ford F-350

1 Answer

I'm looking at a 2008 f-350 with 53000 miles on it. Noticed the tow wouldn't work and the 4wd wouldn't engage. Dealer fixed the problem said there was a module out. Is there on going problem in these vehicles with this?

There are alot of complaints on here about the ford trucks and their transmissions...the 4 wheel drive is bad about going out on them. i would shy away from it if they already had to repair ir

I was towing a heavy load with my 94 4runner. i put it in 4wd, heard a strange moan sound, very quickly took it out of 4wd. now i have no reverse

Not sure if the 4runner requires you to stop before engaging 4wd or not. Need some more information on your vehicle, auto/manual, speed when you engaged 4wd.

DUE TO DEAD BATTERY 4WD WAS TOWED 25 MILES WITH

I don't have good news for you.
If you have an automatic tranny on your 4WD this is prohibited, per Toyota. It's your transmission that's probably making the noise. It's lubricated when the engine runs and the transmission pump is circulating oil through the system. During towing, when your drive wheels were spinning with the engine off, no fluid was being pumped through the system. Friction, etc. can quickly wear down bearings and seals, etc.

If this was towed professionally they should have known better... You might have a case due to professional negligence.

Hope this helps, but sorry.

Instructions to use 4wd mode, as i have no owners manual

only engage when stopped and take it out when on road (unless you want to replace tyres every 2500 miles.also when in 4wd max speed off road/towing is 25mph.lastly have you got off road tyres as ordinary tyres are useless off road.

I have a 2002 1.6 Suzuki Grand Vitara which jumps out of 4 wheel drive on occasion, is this a common fault and is it an easy fix? Also I need to locate the ERG valve. Thanks Wildpunto

My 1999 GV has the same problem. From my initial research, it seems that a common problem is a faulty air pump or a leak in the air line or actuator that engages the 4wd. This vehicle uses a pressure line instead of a vacuum line to engage the 4wd. I just got my GV back from my mechanic about 30 minutes ago and it seems like my air pump is dying (mounted inside the front bumper). Now I just have to find a replacement. ( I live about 90 miles from the nearest dealer.)

Had a Saturn Relay when the battery went bad the security lock activated and could not start the car and the only solution the dealer said was to tow it to them. No wonder saturn is about to be cut by GM. They ran this once good service car company into the ground.

2000 yukon xl. 4x4 wont engage

My 2000 Yukon XL with 5300 engine had same problem at 115,800 miles in Aug 2006(I bought the vehicle new January 2000)...My GMC dealer did diagnostic and replaced a faulty 4WD Transfer Case Shift Control. (reading from the service invoice) It was GM part number 15709327. Cost for the repair was $41.48 + labor $74.13, total was $115.71...it now has 165,000 on it and so far no problem and the 4WD works when I need it.

4 wheel will not engage on 2002 DODGE DURANGO

you will need to let the durango sit in the nuetral position without moving, then turn the knob from 2WD to 4WD. if that doesnt work, try putting the durango in reverse and then back to drive a couple times. you may have some mud/dirt/oil caked up under there interfering with the 4WD moving parts.
