I would make the rounds to all the auto parts stores near you and ask them if they've heard the same problem!
Sometimes parts on newer cars keep going bad until someone, the auto parts industry, comes up with a better solution and then walla a newer better part is created that is readily available at auto parts stores!

Hope this is helpful.

Vw golf mark4 over revs

Hello James,

If the engine revs up with no increase in speed, your clutch is slipping. Probably the reason the car was sold!

Hi, I drive a vw golf 4 1.6se 1999 model. My battery light has come on and stayed on..I took it to the garage in a different city and the guy told me that is the alternator and is going to cost me 211.00...

if he checked the voltage with the car running, it should be at least 14 volts. It sounds like he's telling the truth. This is a common reason for the light to come on.

I OWN A 2003 TOYOTA 4RUNNER WITH 60000 MILES. OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS WE HAVE NOTICED WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A LOOSE BELT SOUND THAT LASTS FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. I TOOK THE CAR TO HAVE...

It is common practice to replace belts that are 3 years or older depending on the type belt it is. The stretch and break over time with heat and cooling that goes on. Some mechanics are not trained in the proper maintainance of belts and hoses You should be having the timing belt change to. I believe if it is the ribbed type belt it is supposed to be replaced at 60 thousand miles. If you don't and the belt fails it's a $3000.00 repair minimum so $200.00 IN maintiance is in my opinion worth it. And belts can just fail even new ones. However you could also have a Tensioner pulley bearing going out causing the problem so I suggest you try a different shop. Hope this helps and thanks for using fix-ya.

Electric windows not working, how do i fix this golf gti 115 mark

To isolate your problem a few questions needed.
  • Do you hear any noise when you hit the switch
  • Does it move a bit
  • Can you operate it from the outside locking mechanism
If you can hear the motor (regulator) but window does not operate, then we established that power is being supplied and fuse/relay are ok. Your problem is a bad window regulator or a guide cable is fraying and caused it to knot up on the guides.

If you hear nothing at all then you first need to figure whether it's a fuse, a relay or the wiring is bad.

The battery light has just come on for my 2001 vw golf. what does this mean? how do i know if it's the alternator, battery or something else? and how much should a new battery or alternator cost. FYI this...

When the light comes on, it is a signal that you are using more electricity than is being produced, below some threshold. If it continues to stay on when you rev the engine, it is probably your alternator. A 9 year old vehicle is a candidate for an alternator replacement, and probably a battery replacement, though you may not need a battery right now. Expect to pay $150.00 or more for the alternator if you are doing the work. Expect to replace your battery for around $125.00 if you are doing the work. I would expect a shop would do this work for about $375.00 depending on where you are located. If you are doing the work, expect to spend 3 hours on this job if you have the right tools, including bandaids.

Hi this may sound strange but have you made sure the fuel cap seals too!! i had a car brought to me once with a similar problem after a bump and i spent ages trying to work out why it was getting air in the fuel, i tried alsorts but it turned out to be the fuel cap not sealing, as its a sealed system it can get in anywhere, Hope this helps

4 alternator replacements in 4 years 1996 maxima

Has anyone looked at the connectors to the alternator? I remember these types of stories from work, alternator after alternator, found 2 things to be the problem, one is the connector to the alternator was defective, makes a poor connection and destroys the new alternator, the other is very poor quality rebuilds from Kragen, Auto Zone and the like, use a factory rebuild, they cost more but they are just as good as a new one.

Oil pressure light

Oil pump broken, or oil sensor on control panel faulty. First option more likely, contact a mechanic and have oil pump checked, do not use the car, as you can damage the engine.
