    Hi there,

I had the same problem up until 2hours ago wen i actually fixed it myself but mine was just the door behind the drivers that wouldnt open or unlock from the key or by putting key in drivers lock and its electric window wouldnt go down also the little light at the bottom that lets u see where u are standing stopped working.

Is yours the whole system or just one door as maybe i can help.

My remote central locking system has failed (not battery in fob) and I cannot access my fuel tank. Can I manually release the tank cover without removing all the rear panelling? VW Passat Estate 05 plate.

vw doesnt have an emergency release handle that i know of,you will have to remove the panel and then twist the cable end where the head of the gas door lock is, as you twist it will pop out, unless its electric release then do the same except there no cable just the lock head and a connector. the release seloniod may be bad or stuck, or the door may be stuck.hope this helps,

fuses are usually in the glove box or under the drivers dash or under the drivers side hood either physically inspect every fuse by pulling them one by one or the aid of a test light and a good ground to the test light

Vw passat central locking 1998

hi make sure your connections are connected properly firstly as proberly whats happened is when you have been connecting the wires you shorted the live feed and not noticed as if you were to diconnect the wires of that door soliniod that is the only door that wouldn,t work so if they are all not working it must be something that controls the whole system rather than the one part , so look at the fuses firstly as if they worked before you startedthe job this is more likley to be the case yates210456

1991 Passat automatic door locks

Hi there!

It probably happened if the door was not fully closed, and was then locked, or was locked, then forced open from inside.

You say fuses had blown - and you replaced them? If so which ones?

This is quite an involved problem, as you need to trace where the fault lies. It will probably be only one door providing the fault.

If one motor is shorting (due to bent locking rods etc), then the whole system may fail to operate.

Check both front doors with the key if it's central locking. If one will not try to lock all four - that's the faulty one. If you get no power at all, then you will have to find the short.

Please contact again for more detail. Thanks.
