Question about 1990 Honda Accord

1 Answer

No spark on my 1990 honda accord ex.

Im searching all over the internet for different forums and same problem is arising, car ran then no spark. car was ran to my house when purchased about half an hour away no problems at all ran like a top, then sat for about 3 months. went to go start it and would not spark. brand new plugs and wires still no spark, then purchased new cap and rotor and still no spark. i checked all the wires that was recommended in the bible but all the voltages and currents were average. im about ready to buy a new distributor. i took the distributor off and tried to find some way to identify serial number and or make but could only find this letter and number combination inside the distributor under the rotor and cover on the coil printed (TC-08A) is this the model of distributor that im looking for. and if not please tell me what the hell might be going on thanks very much MARK S.

1).The bible of course is Haynes Repair Manual.

2).the wires that grease up the license plate of course, haha.

The wires on the internal coils"resistance-black/yellow wire

    -white/blue wire

primary resistance between terminals A and C- 0.7ohms. supposed to be between 0.6 to 0.8 ohms.

secondary resistance between terminal A and secondary terminal-14.5. supposed to be between 13.0k ohms to 19.8k ohms.

Wow! Haynes... ...They have deprogramming for that cult, I think. Was that the best they could come up with? You know it was!

Ok, so you checked resistance on primary and secondary coil circuits. Cool! At least the coil could induce a secondary field, theoretically. I'm seeing alot of Hondas from ten years and older since I run a used car lot garage. I want to improve my sight-unseen diagnosis skills, so thanks for giving me a shot at this one.

I'm going to work up a list of suggestions, (maybe ten or so)engrave them in stone tablets, and pray that you apply them in your life and under your hood. Hopefully, these steps will guide you through the troubleshooting without robbing Peter to pay for the distributor.

Let's be sure it's really guilty or sinful before we stone it to death!!!

THanks for getting right back. You'll be hearing from me soon.

Let's back up briefly, ok? What Bible? What wires? What average values? Are you sure your dog ate your homework? lol

Some details on what tests were actually done on which circuits would go a long way toward knowing where you are in the troubleshooting process. Tell me what you can, I'll be watching. Thanks, TT

Hello,
Could you possibly be looking on the wrong area? is the rotor turning when engine is cranked? I hate to possibly bring bad news but is the cam belt/chain intact? as if broken you'll never get a spark.
Hope this points you in the right direction? if it does please respond by pressing the Blue button for my FREE efforts.

Low power and acceleration on 1990 honda accord

Sounds like a bad motor bearing. Not good news. With all spark plugs out and belts to alternator, power steering, air conditioner, etc., loose, rotate the motor by hand to see if it's free.

I have a 1990 Honda Accord EX and need to replace the driver and passenger windows. I am replacing them myself from a junkyard. Can I use other years besides 1990 to match up the window

Accords 1990 through 1993 should have the same glass, given the same body type, and given any differences in the mechanisms( power, not power, etc.). I would take a careful look, or even some digital camera pictures to compare when I went to the salvage yard. Better yet, take the old windows (or what is left of them).
Hope this is helpful.

I have a 1990 honda accord ex and the gear shift keeps locking up and you have to use the key to unlock it on the shifter why is this what could be wrong?

If the car is an automatic, which it sounds like it is. There is nothing wrong with it, it locks the transmission shifter so no one can steal the car and so it won't move or roll.

Flashing green s on the dash

A green flashing "S" is similar to a check engine light. It is telling you that something in or on your transmission is not functioning correctly, such as the speed sensor or shift control solenoids. If it starts flashing and the speedometer stops working or the transmission shifts weird, take it to a mechanic.
