Question about 2002 Toyota RAV4

Toyota rav4 is quite noisy when waiting traffic lights

I have a 2002 toyota rav4 J that is front wheel drive and 1794cc vvti engine. It is quite noisy and shaking when i am waiting traffic lights in 'D' position and the speed meter is down to 500-700. But it is nice when changing to 'parking' or 'N' position and the speed meter is rise to 1000. Is there anything i can do to improve it? Many thanks.

Well its tough to diagnose the noisey part without hearing it, but I would suggest having the throttle body cleaned out, its probably just dirty and restricting air a bit.

2002 Toyota Rav4....check engine light""is

Here are two of the most common causes of the check engine light.

Most common, MAF ( mass air flow ), sensor. A faulty MAF prevents the computer from determining the correct fuel/air mix ratio.

Oxygen sensor. ( front and rear, front meaning before the catalytic converter, rear meaning after the catalitic converter. The front measures the fuel/air mix being sent through the catalitic converter, the back measures the emmisions and lets the computer know if any fuel/air mix ratios need to be adjusted. Both of these can trigger the check engine light.

I hope this helps you.

Depending on how noisy the car is whilst in drive it may not be a problem or one that can be fixed, when the car is idling depending on the car ofcourse it will idle between 800 - 1000rpm, once the car is in "D" the engine puts load on the gearbox and thats why the revs drop its completely normal and causes no harm to your car. If the noise is an exhaust related problem you may just have an exhaust leak.
