Changed both sets of plugs one set was wrong heat rating, also changed the fuel filter. All was well for a while but the problem is back again. Further investigation reveals that one coil position does not work but if the coil is switched it works fine, which points towards the low voltage circuit. As there is 12.2v at this coil position low voltage side it must be in the breaking function (the old fashioned 'Points') trying to find where this function takes place, are there 2 breaking/pulsing rotors in the distributor?

Take all of the coils out and blow air into the spark plug tubes and dry them out. Water can and will short out spark plugs.

I have a 1990 Ford f 250 4.9 inline 6 misfires/skips at high rpm I've only noticed it in 2nd gear always does it at high rpm right before I change into 3rd

run the fault codes
as you can achieve naerly full rpms in 2nd gear it is possible that the misfire is from low fuel pressure in the fuel manifold
could be a venting problem in the EVAC system, filter fault, pump failure and pressure regulator problem
I doubt that it would be a ignition area problem as it would occur in 1st as well as other gears

Auto gearbox wont shift out of 3

It is most likely the transmission, component causing it would be the valve body, which can be replaced separately, but usually if there is higher mileage on the transmission the clutch plates are also worn and replacing the valve body may not fix the whole issue.

Delay in Auto shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear

Check your ignition coils. One of mine was bad and when I replaced it, the shifting issue stopped.

Po303 po304 p2293: codes for a3 cabriolet after changing wrong gears- 5th to 2nd,

For the 303 and 4 replace or check spark plugs. Cylinder 3 & 4 are where error detected, if error persists a little more expense likely ignition coils to test you can move 1 and 2 across and see if the error moves away from 3 & 4. Fix nor problem at a time this I'd start. Also check your battery is giving healthy voltage to your system actually do that first.

2001 Beetle check engine light is on. Car was sputtering out of first to second gear.. sometimes 2nd to third. Checked code and came up cyliner misfire. Had plugs changed. Engine light is still on. Car...

Hi, the MIL (engine check light) will only go out when the car has had 50 drive cycles - start, run to normal operating temperature and stop, without further faults. A normal EOBD code reader such as you used to check for the fault originally should also be able to cancel the fault and put the light out. If the code won't clear, suspect a faulty ignition coil. Which is a common fault on these vehicles.
Hope that helps Matt...

06 wrangler 4 cylinder... keeps going thru spark plugs. I have changed the spark plugs twice in 2 mnths. the 1st time was loss of power in about 3rd gear so changed to platinum and then about 2 weeks later...

Pull the plugs and compare them to the pictures in repair manual, ie: Chilton's or Hayne's. May be a bad injector flooding them or an intake leak causing a lean condition.
