Re: how do you change the breaklight bulb
Well there should be 2 screw on the inside of the tail light in question and two push in retainers at the rear outside take the 2 screws out and try a firmly pulling on the light towards yoiu if it doesnot come out right away try to jiggle it around and then try pulling again believe me it will come out after you loosen the retainers/ Please rate my response Thank you very much

Brake light switch has failed replace it and the lights and cruise should work. When the switch fails it comes apart and the computer thinks the brak is on and the lights won't come on.Costa $20.00 and has a three wire plug on it and is simple to change.
Could be bad contact inside socket. Try turning all lights off and use a file, sandpaper or screwdriver to scratch off any corrosion or contaminent. If this works put white grease on contacts. If this doesn't, then it has to be wiring harness. Follow wires back 'til you find break or disconnection wires or ground.
These are directions from Wiki plus my own recent experience. Open the trunk and look in the left or right corner closest to the rear of the car. You will see a 4x4 3/4 (approximate) plastic cover, pull firmly to remove the plastic piece (if covered) from the backside of the taillight. Pay attention to how it comes out too because you will have to match up the ends to put the piece back in correctly. My breaklight was the top lightbulb but you can locate the burned out bulb by pressing your breaklights (I used a stick to wedge the pedal). When you find the bulb that is burned out, twist the bulb by grabbing it at the plastic end (I had a little tab on mine to push in before I turned the bulb) and turn it counter-clockwise then pull it straight out of the plastic housing and replace it with a brand new light bulb.
Hope it goes as smoothly for you as it did for me!!
