Question about 2000 Nissan Frontier
I was driving down the freeway and just suddenly lost power. I pulled over to check things out and everything was fine... got back in and started down the road. About 10 mins later I started losing power again and the truck was running on about 2-3 cylinders. then it just died. It would turn over and try to start. I could get it to run after using starting fluid, but it was very ruff, no power at all and would only get to about 2100 rpm with the pedal to the floor. I had it towed home. The following morning I tried to start it and the same thing using starting fluid... except after running for about 3 mins...it would die and not restart at all. I checked the fuel pressure and I have 44 psi at the injector rails. Also checked spark and there appears to be plenty... I checked two of the spark plugs and both are bone dry after cranking for about 1 min. I have never had a problem with my truck till now... (EDIT) I solved my problem... It was the distributor.. the fuel injection firing timing sensor was bad (located under the rotor assembly in the distributor)... Replaced whole distributor with a new one...
Try taking a look at the catalatic converter if it is clogged it would make that happen no power and dies alot because it is clogging exhaust
