You can try to tighten the bolts just a little This is an involved job so you may want to consider replacing the timing belt. Check your owners manual for change intervals.

Oil is leaking, how can I tell if engine main

You don't give make or model. Here goes , The engine has a rear maim seal behind the fly wheel if it leaks the leak will be from the clutch housing. It has a front seal behind the crank shaft timing cover.it can leak from there . it can leak from the oil filter and oil pressure switch . Can also leak from the top timing cover gasket and cam shaft seals.

I had my val cover gasket replace. my honda 1999 crv is still leaking oil. where could th leak be coming from

What makes you think the valve cover was leaking, was oil coming from there.Exactly where is it leaking from.If the oil filter is tighten too tight, then it will leak, also by the oil filter is the oil pressure switch,it's screwed into block,it can leak. The rear oil seal can leak, where engine and transmission meet.If valve cover is not installed correctly,it will leak and loose compression.

Oil leak on driveway coming from front of engine

Dear Sir,
Here is the oil leaking Problem Identifying Technique

Engine oil leaks from the valve cover gasket are common.

  • The intake manifold plenum gasket may leak and cause increased oil consumption/burning and a spark knock during acceleration; the gasket should be replaced.
  • External oil leaks from valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets (front or rear), and the rear crankshaft (rear main) seal area are common. The rear main seal is an unlikely source. Normally, the bearing cap mating surfaces (as well as the sealing surface between the oil pan and bearing cap) are the source for the leaks.
  • Engine oil leaks at the distributor can be misdiagnosed as leaks from theintake manifold seal, oil pan gasket, or rear crankshaft (rear main) seal. A revised distributor is available if oil is found inside the distributor.
  • If the oil filter casing shows signs of distortion from excessive oil pressure, theoil pump should be replaced.
  • Often misdiagnosed as a leaking oil filter gasket, the oil filter adapter can seep from between the adapter and engine block.
  • Carbon buildup on the top of the piston is common. As the buildup increases with mileage and over time, symptoms may vary from light ticking, to ticking/hammering, to hammering/knocking noises. Fuel injector cleaner often solves the problem.

How do you replace oil seal on 1992 Toyota pickup

You likely need a valve cover gasket, to confirm this is the leak clean the engine with a pressure washer and then drive it, if the cover is the leak tighten down the retaining bolts first, the gasket gets flattened and leaks, this works one time in most cases on this engine.

My 97 dodge intrepid is leaking oil badly! It looks like from engine. How do I fix it?

You don't say from what part of the engine. When is the last time you've had the oil changed? Check the oil filter first if it's loose (it happens) or the seal is old etc... a new filter will fix it.

I have an oil leak in a spark plug chamber how do is fix it

depends where the oil came from.of it has leaked down from a valve cover gasket, that is not hard to fix.if it a leaking valve seal that is expensive and if the head gasket is leaking, expensive.look at the outside edge of the valve cover, and check the edge for oil.if there is alot of oil,by the time the plug is unscrewed oil can go inside.the oil would burn off,so if there is oil inside it is dripping down probably from a valve seal.take off the valve cover and inspect the seals they are probably no good.there are 2 seal sets, one is in the valve cover, and that results in oil on the outside of the plug, and the actual valve seal which results in oil in the inside of the engine.
